Join Our Social Space this autumn for Rooted in Rhythm – a special community film season presented by The Flicks Hut as part of the Festival of Community Cinema, celebrating 100 years of community storytelling on screen.
The season brings together powerful films exploring the creativity, identity, and lived experiences of Black communities whose music and movement shaped the rhythm of modern culture — and whose influence still echoes in the social dances we celebrate today.
Each screening will include light refreshments and an informal post-film discussion.
Films include:
-
Do the Right Thing (1989)
-
I Am Not Your Negro (2016)
-
Drylongso (1998)
-
Night of the Kings (2020)
-
Moonlight (2016)

Singin’ in the Rain (1952)
