To celebrate NI Science Festival, join the W5 Learning and Engagement team to unlock the mysteries of your DNA.

Whether you're a science enthusiast or simply curious about the blueprint of life, join us and delve into the TAS2R38 gene, responsible for coding a taste receptor on the tongue. This hands-on experience for adults will guide you through laboratory techniques such as DNA isolation, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), restriction enzyme digestion, and gel electrophoresis to determine whether your phenotype matches your genotype.

Taking place on Saturday 14 February 2026 from 10am-3pm in the W5 Lab.

DNA in a Day is an 18+ event.

This is a limited-capacity event, and slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
