Whether you are new to the dance world, or a well seasoned dance fan, our fifth Evening of Dance promises a series of high quality performances across a range of styles.
Join us for a rare chance to enjoy a programme of renowned and emerging talent drawn from a pool of dancers currently practicing in Ireland.
The programme will feature the following artists:
● Rosie Mullin
Rosie is an integral part of the dance community in the north of Ireland, contributing creatively to performances with Off The Rails and Maiden Voyage Dance.
She has worked with renowned choreographer Oona Doherty, serving as rehearsal director for Hard to Be Soft: A Belfast Prayer and as an associate artist on the Sky Arts documentary Fly the Flag for Human Rights.
Rosie will be performing a piece entitled God Love Her, woven with haunting music, monologue and movement. She will also perform a short chapter of her forthcoming piece Obedient Lamb, which plays with farcical rituals concealed within rural Ireland’s domestic walls. A search for what is sacred and what has been suppressed.
● Martha Tribe
Martha is a freelance dance artist and choreographer based in Dublin. As a recipient of the Sarah Rubidge Annual Research Award, Martha is currently investigating the relevance of theoretical discourses on place and space to a dance context.
She will perform a piece entitled Album, a work-in-progress which examines the relationship between audience and dancer in the moment of performance. The in-between space of these two distinct parties is brought into focus in order to display the unique place created each time “the dance” occurs.
● Róisín Ní hArtáin
Originally from Cavan, Róisín is a contemporary dancer, choreographer, and teacher, with a diverse career that spans dance, circus, theatre, and film.
Róisín will be performing a piece looking at how something as simple as the hair on our head can define identity, shape perception, and carry history.
“Hair is everything, we wish it wasn’t so we could think about something else occasionally.” Phoebe Waller-Bridge - Fleabag.
● Two work-in-progress pieces will be performed by Northern Attitudes Dance Company’s Harvest Artists, Rebecca Runchman and Phoebe Brown.
● The highly talented students from High Points Youth Ballet will perform an ensemble piece and a selection of solos.
Established in 2011 to offer masterclasses to top students earning ‘high points’ on their ballet exams, the company has expanded to offer more than 20 hours per week of high-level training to aspiring professional dancers.
Learning and performing classical repertoire and new contemporary works are pillars of the High Points training programme. Its youth dance company performs in professional theatres across Northern Ireland and members are also regularly featured at local community and corporate events.
● Two surprise guest international dancers will also perform on the night.
We are grateful to the Arts Council of Northern Ireland for supporting this event and for its continued partnership with the Creative Holywood Festival.
