If you’ve never composed a tune before and would like to try, this workshop offers the perfect opportunity. Guided by one of Ireland’s most respected composers, participants will explore the fundamentals of composing within the traditional idiom. By the end of the session, everyone will have created their own original tune.
Belfast-born Neil Martin is a composer and musician of international renown. His work has been performed across the world, from Ground Zero and Mostar Bridge to the Royal Albert Hall and has even been played on the International Space Station.

A cellist and uilleann piper, Neil has worked extensively both on stage and in the studio with many of the world’s leading musicians and ensembles, including Liam O’Flynn, Bryn Terfel, Barry Douglas, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, all of Ireland’s principal orchestras, as well as Christy Moore, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, The Dubliners, The Chieftains, Altan, Shaun Davey, Mary Black and Dónal Lunny.
