This workshop is designed for banjo players looking to deepen their understanding of Irish traditional banjo style. Dermot will focus on rhythm, phrasing, tune structure and stylistic detail, with particular attention to developing drive and lift within ensemble and session playing.

Participants should be comfortable with the fundamentals of the instrument and ready to explore more advanced technical and musical concepts in a focused and supportive environment.

Dermot Mulholland is a multi-instrumentalist and singer from County Derry, widely respected for his dynamic banjo playing and deep engagement with Irish traditional music. An All-Ireland Senior Banjo Champion, Dermot has performed internationally with groups including Réalta, Ioscaid and The High Seas, and continues to be an active presence on the traditional music scene at home and abroad.

Alongside his performance career, Dermot is a highly experienced teacher, having delivered classes and workshops with Comhaltas, Armagh Pipers Club, and at festivals and events worldwide. His teaching style is clear, practical and rooted in the tradition, supporting players to develop confidence, musicality and a strong rhythmic foundation.
