The park features three distinct areas, including picnic spots, a children's playground, and a memorial area, all within sight of Carrickfergus Castle

There is a a winding walk as far as Fisherman’s Quay, where visitors can make their return to the castle along the delightful seafront promenade with fantastic views across Belfast Lough and beyond. (around 2km in total).

The gardens include an intricate array of paved routes split by sustainable planting and are a popular spot for picnics, playing and relaxing whilst taking in views of the castle and coast. As well as the gardens it incorporates Memorial Area, Clock Tower and Children's Playground.

Getting to the start by car

Take the A2 road into Carrickfergus and follow the signs to Marine Gardens, which is located near the seafront. 

From Belfast - Take the M2 motorway from Belfast, heading north. Follow the signs for Carrickfergus. Take the A2 road into Carrickfergus. Follow the signs to Marine Gardens, which is located near the seafront. 

From Larne - Take the A2 road south towards Carrickfergus. Follow the coast road, and Marine Gardens will be on your right as you enter the town.


Directions from Town

ByTrain - Train services runs from Belfast to Carrickfergus. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Carrickfergus Train Station, it's a 5-10 minute walk to Marine Gardens. 

By Bus - You can catch a bus from various locations in Belfast to Carrickfergus. The journey takes approx 40-60 minutes. Local bus services connect Larne to Carrickfergus.
