This is a truly unique tour, an opportunity to learn how herbs and plants have been used medicinally for centuries to present day.

Step back to 1193 with tour guide Steve of Friends of the Abbey, as you enter one of Ireland's most impressive examples of early Cistercian architecture, Grey Abbey. Explore the physic garden of herbs and plants grown by the Cistercians to produce medicines.

Under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult and also purchase a full price ticket This experience is based outdoors, please dress for warmth and comfort as dictated by the weather.

Getting there

By Car: Belfast follow the A20 to Newtownards. Follow the A20 along Kempe Stones Road to Newtownards.  At the roundabout take the 3rd exit along Blair Mayne Road South.  Continue to follow the A20 onto the Portaferry Road. Follow along the Portaferry Road A20 to Main St in Greyabbey, turn left in the middle of the village at the small roundabout and then right at the crossroads.  Grey Abbey Ruins are now in sight and the carpark is ahead of you. BT22 2NQ
