The Twelfth of July is always a highlight of the summer calendar – a vibrant, family-friendly day steeped in tradition, pride, and fellowship. This year, the beautiful coastal village of Carnlough is honoured to host the celebrations, and they can’t wait to welcome you!
The parade will begin at the assembly field, located at the park on Bay Road. From there, bands and brethren will parade proudly through Carnlough’s charming streets, waving to locals and visitors alike as they go.
The route continues through the heart of the village, before making its way up Largy Road to the Demonstration field, beautifully situated near St. Patrick’s Church. This scenic field will be the hub of afternoon activities, speeches, and entertainment.
The return parade will follow the same route in reverse, with a departure time from the field at 4:00pm.
Braid have worked hard to make sure the day runs smoothly for everyone so, toilets are available at the Demonstration field for public use. A clearly marked First Aid point will be located within the field, staffed by trained professionals. For our younger attendees (and the young-at-heart), there will be bouncy castles and funfair-style attractions to keep the excitement going all afternoon. Food vendors will be on site offering a tasty selection of snacks, drinks, and treats to suit all tastes—don’t forget to bring some cash!
The main parade will start at 12:00 noon (from Bay Road), with platform proceedings beginning between 2:30pm – 3:30pm at the Demonstration field.
This year’s parade promises to be a stirring display of musical and cultural pageantry, featuring Braid District LOL No.18 along with its 11 Lodges. 9 Bands will accompany the Brethren and of course there will be 2 Sets of Lambeg Drums.
Leading the procession with pride will be Carnlough LOL 1180, accompanied by the Carnlough Flute Band, setting the tone with rhythm and tradition.
Braid are especially excited to mark a significant milestone for one of their most respected lodges, Teenies No Surrender LOL 635 will be celebrating an incredible 170 years of loyal service—a remarkable achievement and a true testament to the enduring spirit of the Orange Institution.
Join Braid District at the Demonstration field for an afternoon of speeches and reflection as we pause to honour the values and history that bring us together.
This year’s featured speakers include Wor. Bro. Rev. William Anderson – bringing a message of faith and unity and Robin Swann MLA (UUP) – offering his support and reflections on tradition and community.
The proceedings are expected to begin around 2:30pm, once the full procession has arrived at the field and all participants are settled.
Please follow the directions of stewards and police on the day. Allow plenty of time to arrive, especially if you're travelling from outside the area, and don’t forget your sun cream, raincoat—or both!
Let’s make Carnlough Twelfth 2025 a day to remember—for all the right reasons.
