Have you ever wondered what all the fuss is about opera? Portico Portaferry invites you to the first season of their Opera Film Club, screening La Bohème, this Saturday 4th March. Music critic Michael Quinn will introduce each screening, telling us about the composers, the operas and the productions – all from the world’s greatest opera houses. During the screening there will be an interval of 15 minutes when a complimentary glass of wine or tea/coffee will be served with the opportunity to discuss the film further with like-minded individuals. The evening will end in good time for those who wish to catch the last ferry to Strangford at 10.45pm.

Antrim
Ballymoney prides itself on hosting the oldest Drama Festival in Ireland. This year Ballymoney presents its 78th season of plays in Ballymoney Town Hall. There will be seven plays performed by some of the best and best-known amateur companies in the Province. Almost all of the plays on offer this year have been described as comedies but often the laughter is bittersweet. Almost every play on offer at this year’s Festival has also been staged in The West End or on Broadway, often both, in the recent past. The first performance will be on Saturday 4th March and then the Festival runs from Monday 6th until Saturday 11th March. All performances will be in Ballymoney Town Hall and start at 8.00pm, except on the Final Night when the play begins at 19:30.
