The Redbull Racing F1 Car is coming to Portrush!

Be one of the first to see the F1 Redbull Racing Car when it comes to Portrush, ahead of their event in Belfast.

The Red Bull Racing Team are bringing their F1 Car to the Kelly’s Complex Portrush on Thursday 1st November 2018 between 8pm-10pm in advance of its trip to Belfast on November 3rd.

Fans will have the opportunity to get a close-up inspection of the feat of modern technology. Come along, grab a photo and be one of the 1st to check it out.

The Red Bull Wings team will also be there with their dodge truck and samples, making it a night that you’ll remember.

After thousands of sold out shows, it’s clear – Bon Jovi = One Wild Night.

One of the planet’s biggest rock bands, Bon Jovi announce their return to Ireland, continuing a triumphant world tour that has visited the USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and Chile and will hit Japan and Australia later in 2018.  A huge year of 80 shows and counting has also seen them inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Their This House Is Not For Sale European Tour is set to be another blockbuster.

Bon Jovi will play the R.D.S. Stadium, Dublin on Saturday 15 June, 2019 (subject to licence). Something of a spiritual home for the band in Ireland, they sold out two consecutive nights at the R.D.S. in June 2011 and played there 3 times before that.

Tickets for the concert will go on sale on Thursday 8th November at 9.00am.

“Those huge shows, tens of thousands of people all together as one, that’s what we do,” says Jon Bon Jovi.

The success of latest album This House Is Not For Sale, which debuted at the top of charts around the world, was the culmination of a tempestuous period in the band’s 3-decade history. A defiant statement, launched in a series of intimate shows in 2016, the album became the jumping off point for a new era for Jon Bon Jovi and his band.

And that band has evolved since their last global trip. 2013’s Because We Can World Tour, was their third tour in six years to be ranked the #1 top-grossing tour in the world (a feat accomplished by only The Rolling Stones previously).

This will be their first Irish show since 2013 when the band played at Slane Castle.

The band has evolved since their last global trip, 2013’s Because We Can Tour, and features Bon Jovi originals David Bryan and Tico Torres alongside Jon, plus long time bassist Hugh McDonald, co-producer and co-songwriter John Shanks, multi-instrumentalist Everett Bradley, and lead guitarist Phil X, who joined the band on that 2013 tour.

“We’ve become a new, rejuvenated Bon Jovi,” says Jon, “A refreshed line up that kills every night.  We sound better than ever and we’re enjoying every minute.  We are out there as a band, feeding off each other and the fans, having the time of our lives all over again.”

This tour places the spotlight firmly on the music and the songs, the body of work that has propelled Bon Jovi to over 130 million record sales.  The band is ready with a choice of around 95 songs that they can change up every night, but have also been playing their all time classics like “You Give Love A Bad Name”, “It’s My Life”, “Wanted Dead Or Alive”, “Bad Medicine”, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”, “Keep the Faith”, “Always”, “Have A Nice Day” and of course, “Livin’ On A Prayer.”

SPARK! STREET THEATRE SET TO DRUM UP MAGICAL SHOW FOR CITY OF MERCHANTS FESTIVAL

Get ready to be immersed in an evening of free carnival family fun at this year’s City of Merchants celebrations.

Street theatre team Spark! will be drumming up interest at the magical, movement and lighting street theatre show, shining a light on this year’s City of Merchants event on Friday 2nd November.

The renowned Spark! team are composed of light and sound, transforming the surrounding landscape to captivate their audience, combining high impact drumming, dynamic choreography and playful characters with colourful lighting design. The cast will take the audience on a vivid dreamlike journey, set to be memorable and mesmerising.

The Spark! drumming troupe will be leading a procession from Hill Street outside the Twilight Market towards the viewing area of fireworks at Fathom Line, leaving at 7.15pm with a magnificent firework display to follow at 8pm.  After the fireworks, the Spark! team drummers will then lead the crowd back to the Hill Street Carnival area, ending the evening on an up-beat!

Chairman of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Mark Murnin said: “It is great to see the Twilight Market return to the City of Merchants celebrations. This year with Spark! leading the festivities we are sure that it will be a spectacular and memorable evening for all the family.”

The City of Merchants Festival will take place from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th November and will see a host of activities take place to celebrate the area’s maritime and trading heritage. Activities on Friday alongside the Walking Tour & Banquet at Bagenal’s Castle include a Twilight Market from 5pm to 10pm in Newry Variety Market Hill Street; free children’s art and craft workshops at the market; a parade to the Fathom Line at 7.15pm; ending with a magnificent firework display from 8pm.

On Saturday you can enjoy the Tall Ships from 12noon to 4pm; a theatrical Merchant Quest through the streets of Newry created by theatre company Big Telly; a theatrical guided tour of Bagenal’s Castle; plus, a comical look at trade through the years taking place in both The Buttercrane and The Quays Shopping Centres.  For tickets, visit: https://bit.ly/2Az1gDK

This year will also see the inaugural Scenic Carlingford Ferry Loop Sportive in which hundreds of keen cyclists will take on a 62km route around the shores of Carlingford Lough. More details on this event can be found at www.loopsportive.com

On Sunday in partnership with Kx and Newry Business Improvement District (BID), Aston Martin Red Bull Racing will be bringing one of its famous Formula 1 cars to Marcus Square in Newry. City of Merchants Festival Newry will once again thrill audiences with a spectacular fireworks display on Friday 2nd November at 8.30pm (with the best viewing area along Fathom Line).  Also on Friday, Festival-goers will be treated to music, entertainment and scrumptious scran at the Twilight Market from 5.00pm –11.00pm at Newry Variety Market in John Mitchel Place and are encouraged to walk across to the viewing area for the fireworks. There will be a carnival atmosphere before and following the fireworks display, with lights, fire and pyrotechnics for all to enjoy.  This year, as part of the festival, the Walking Tours of Newry will have a railway theme, coinciding with Newry and Mourne Museum’s forthcoming exhibition on railway transport.  Also in Bagenal’s Castle will be a banquet with themed entertainment.

Immerse yourself in the mystical side of Armagh heritage at the Astral Weeks party this Sunday 4th November.   Step through the Armagh County Museum doors into an after-dark event celebrating the mysticism in Armagh’s hidden histories and the 50th anniversary of Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks with Classic Album Sundays . Join CAS founder Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy and journalist Stuart Bailie and experience Astral Weeks in a way you never heard before.   8. World Wars Tour, Bangor, 10 November. This tour departs from the North Down Museum, visiting three key sites: North Down Museum, Grey Point Fort and the Somme Museum, along with other sites that link to momentous events including the Battle of the Somme and D-Day. A knowledgeable guide will educate this tour with some interesting facts you may not know about the area’s links to the two Great Wars.
  9. It Only Takes A Minute, Limavady, 6 November. It Only a Takes Minute is a superb one-woman show performed by disabled actress Anna Kyle at the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre. The production focuses on the life of Michelle, a young female with Asperger’s and begins with her receiving her diagnosis. We join Michelle on a rollercoaster ride through the 1990s as she relives moments through a series of flashbacks, told through a punchy, fast-paced script.
  10. Shane Todd Hero – Stand up of Ireland 2018, Newry, 8 November. Shane Todd performs stand-up all over the world, has a BBC radio series, supported the legendary Bill Burr and has gained a massive online following with his sketches and character videos. See him perform in his natural environment, on stage at a comedy show, at the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre.

Halloween at Ballylough Country Estate – Two Events in One!

TWO EVENTS IN ONE – HALLOWEEN HULLABALOO + THE TRAVELLING TREELUMINATIONS

 

For good value it would be hard to beat two events for the one price and that’s exactly what’s happening at the Ballylough Country Estate outside Bushmills this weekend.  Commencing on Friday night and running until Wednesday 31st the Halloween Hullabaloo features all you’d expect and more at a spooky country farmyard.  Bring the family and enjoy the haunted trail which, amongst other attractions, will feature dunking for apples, toasting marshmallows, story telling and a trip around the zombie garden.  And running alongside will be the Travelling Treeluminations in the adjacent woodland.  Here you will meander through ancient trees with special lighting arranged by artist Walter Holt and which will be complemented by the music of pianist Sharon Graham.  It’s definitely an event to have your camera well charged as the lights are programmed to change with the music and will present many spectacular images.  And to allow the adults to properly enjoy the show there are plans to give the kids a treasure hunt to keep them occupied until you reach the end.  It’s here where you will rejoin the Hullabaloo once again and perhaps meet a zombie or two……

 

The organisers request that everyone wrap up warm and that wellie boots would be a great idea as after all, they did say it’s a haunted country farmyard!
