Lucian Freud’s Etchings: A Creative Collaboration at Titanic Belfast, 2 May – 30 September. Discover the remarkable work of Lucian Freud, one of the 20th century’s most acclaimed British artists, in this unique showcase exploring his creative process and collaborations. Belfast will be the first port of call of the Lucian Freud’s Etchings: A Creative Collaboration exhibition as part of a global tour. This will be the only location on the island that the artwork is being displayed.- Echoes of the Wild – Sound Bath in the Woods with Finnebrogue Woods, Downpatrick, County Down, 12 May. Step into a world where nature’s symphony becomes your escape. The ‘Echoes of the Wild’ sound escape offers an unparalleled experience that rejuvenates your mind and soul. Delivered by sound artist and practitioner Tessa Ann from The Sound Spa, the session combines natural woodland soundscapes with the soothing vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls, crystal singing bowls, gong, drum percussion and voice.
- Balmoral Show at Eikon Exhibition Centre, Lisburn, County Antrim, 14 – 18 May. Northern Ireland’s largest agri-food celebration, the 156th Balmoral Show in partnership with Ulster Bank will kick off at the Eikon Exhibition Centre in Lisburn with something for everyone. From competitive livestock classes to award-winning local produce, international show-jumping competitions and live stunt displays from the JCB Dancing Diggers, a dedicated Children’s Area, hours of thrilling entertainment in the Main Arena and over 500 trade stands, there’s never a dull moment across the showgrounds.
- Pots, Petals & Pizza Evening at Montalto Estate, Ballynahinch, County Down, 16 May. At The Café at Montalto enjoy a delightful evening celebrating two perfect pairings – petals and pizzas. During this hands-on experience, you’ll learn how to select and design a stunning floral plant pot, perfect for the upcoming summer season. Choose from a beautiful variety of plants and, with expert guidance from head gardener, Lesley, create a floral display to brighten up your garden.
- Wilde Dining at Finn Lough, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, 16 May. There’s excitement for the return of Wilde Dining at Finn Lough, an exclusive, immersive dining experience that brings together food, fire, and nature in perfect harmony. Set in a private forest against the breathtaking backdrop of Lough Erne, offering guests an unforgettable evening of sensory delight, finished off with fireside dessert and cocktail with musical accompaniment
- Presence and Place Tour at Ardress House, Portadown, County Armagh, 17 May. Set in the heart of the beautiful Armagh countryside, this immersive tour invites you to slow down and connect with the rich history and tranquil beauty of this stunning historic estate, that dates back to 1660. Led by an expert National Trust guide and an experienced mindfulness teacher, you’ll embark on a journey of deep presence—engaging your senses as you explore both the exquisite interiors and peaceful gardens.
- Melodies of Spring: An Evening at Castle Ward, Strangford, County Down, 17 May. Celebrate the beauty of spring with an enchanting evening of poetry, music, and history at Castle Ward. Set within the serene Sunken Garden and the grand interiors of the National Trust historic house, this special event brings together the magic of the season with storytelling and song.
- Mike Garry and the Cassia String Quartet at Seamus Heaney HomePlace, Bellaghy, County Londonderry, 17 May. After his stellar performance with John Cooper Clarke last May, Mike Garry returns to The Helicon in Seamus Heaney HomePlace, this time with a classical string quartet.
- Tyrone Farmer’s Market, Food and Craft Markets, Dungannon, County Tyrone, 17 May. Tyrone Farmer’s Market Ltd hold food and craft markets on the first and third Saturdays of every month, in Tesco carpark in Dungannon, from 8.30am until 12.30pm. There are 30 stalls selling artisan food and hand-crafted gifts and homewares, from local producers.
- National Drawing Day at Ulster Museum, Belfast, 17 May. Gather in the atrium to draw inspiration from the wicker dragon display or head into one of the three museum Discovery Centres to focus on an item from the museum collections. This event is free and open to all. Drawing materials are provided; all you need to bring is your curiosity and creativity.
