5. Saint Patrick’s Lecture, Armagh, 16 March. On the eve of Saint Patrick’s Day, the primates of the two principal Churches in Ireland, Archbishop Richard Clarke and Archbishop Eamon Martin, will speak about what Saint Patrick means to them in a modern world at the Market Place Theatre. Examining how Saint Patrick’s words still resonate for many of the challenges we face today.
6. St Patrick’s Day Festival, Ballycastle, 17 March.  This St. Patrick’s Day festival features lots of events including a parade followed by music, Irish dancing, a display from Kelly Neil Dance Co, market stalls, family activities and entertainment. Alongside this the Naturally North Coast and Glens Artisan Market, selling a range of handmade art, craft and local food produce will be located outside Ramoan Parish Centre from 12:00 – 16.00.
7. Saint Patrick’s Day at Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh, 17 March. Visit the Ulster American Folk Park for vibrant music, crafts and festivities this St Patrick’s day. Costumed guides will be re-enacting the emotive send-off which was carried out by countless thousands of people before their voyage from Ireland to America in the 1700s and 1800s. 8. The Rapparees, Belfast, 17 March. One of Ireland’s best regarded folk-bands play in The Empire this St Patrick’s Day. With their own tunes, classic Irish songs, and the staples thrown in for good measure this is set to be great entertainment as part of the days celebrations. 9. Ballycastle & District Horse Ploughing Championship, 17 March. Ballycastle and District Horse Ploughing Society hold their annual Horse Ploughing Match and Heavy Horse Show on St. Patrick’s Day. This is one of the oldest surviving annual competitions in the whole of Ireland and was formed over 130 years ago.
10. St Patrick’s Day at Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, Holywood, 17 March. Experience a range of traditional farming activities, crafts and skills as well as performances from musicians and Irish dancers throughout the day as the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum celebrates St Patrick’s Day.

A national contest which encourages young designers in secondary level education to create striking couture designs and impressive works of wearable art from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin, this fashion show of the design comes to the Millennium Forum Theatre.
2. Irish Golf Expo, Belfast, 3-4 March. Ireland’s premier interactive golf event comes to the Titanic Exhibition Centre. Attendees will have the opportunity to test the latest equipment and accessories, take part in free lessons from PGA professionals and interact with the wide range of golf related businesses who exhibit at the event.
3. The American Country Music Show, Coleraine, 3 March. A celebration of the very best in American country music. This live 8-piece show at the Riverside Theatre includes the songs of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Neil Diamond and many more.
4. Romeo and Juliet Ballet, Derry~Londonderry, 2 March. The Royal Moscow Ballet brings the world’s greatest love story to the Millennium Forum Theatre. Romeo and Juliet has inspired ballet’s greatest choreographers and ballerinas throughout the world.
5. Jim Mullen with the Ronnie Greer Organ Band, Portstewart, 1 March. Guitar legend Jim Mullen is one of the all-time greats in the history of music. His original and visceral guitar style incorporates many blues and soul influences as well as jazz. Jim is joined by The Ronnie Greer Organ Band at the Flowerfield Arts Centre.
6. Jesus Christ Superstar, Lisburn, 28 February-3 March. Fusion Theatre bring back the global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for over 40 years, Jesus Christ Superstar, to the Island Hall in Lisburn.
7. Shimna Wheelers 3 Park Challenge, Co. Down, 3 March. A leisure MTB/CX Sportive starting in Newcastle and traversing some of the most demanding terrain found in the Donard, Tollymore and Castlewellan Parks before finishing back in Newcastle.
8. Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox, Belfast, 1 March. A viral and real-world sensation, the US group’s vintage-pop mash comes to the Ulster Hall. Marrying the 21st century party vibe of Miley Cyrus or the minimalist angst of Radiohead with the crackly warmth of a vintage 78; don’t miss this unique show.
9. Ulster Rugby V Glasgow Warriors, Belfast, 2 March. In Round 17 of the Guinness PRO14 Championship, Ulster will host trailblazers Glasgow Warriors at Kingspan Stadium. Glasgow have been defeated just once in the PRO14 this season, meaning that this match is sure to be a huge showdown.
10. Macbeth, Derry~Londonderry, 27 February. The vicious, barbaric undercurrent in Shakespeare’s most fear-filled tragedy erupts in this kinetic, blood-thirsty production at the Millennium Forum.

2. Born2Run Castlewellan 5/10K Race, Castlewellan, 24 February. The Castlewellan 5K/10K is final race in this year’s Belfast Telegraph Run Forest Run Series. The atmosphere will be buzzing at this last race when everyone who has completed six out of eight races will receive their free Forest Finisher t-shirt. The race starts and finishes in the shadow of Castlewellan Castle.
3. The Bjorn Identity at Portico, Co. Down, 24 February. Abba tribute band, The Bjorn Identity return to Portico where their last show had the audience literally dancing in the aisles to their singalong favourite songs. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy this evening of great entertainment in these unique surroundings.
4. The Man Who Fell to Pieces, Coleraine, 20 February.  This unique play performing at the Riverside Theatre is a story about John who is falling apart, literally. He spends days holding himself together with tape and cling film and other DIY tools.
5. Flash Harry- Celebrating the Magic of Queen, Lisburn, 23 February. From the small beginnings of five Queen fans getting together for a one off gig, Flash Harry have gone from strength to strength. 6. Peter Corry – Call of the Celts, Coleraine, 23 February. An evening of some of the finest music from Ireland and Scotland comes to the Riverside Theatre. 7. Giancarlo Castro’s Trumpet Concerto, Belfast, 23 February. An evening with one of the most exciting rising musicians – Venezuelan trumpeter Francisco “Pacho” Flores who has been achieving worldwide recognition as a soloist, captivating audiences with his energy and the bell-like beauty of his tone. 8. The 4 Of Us, Lisburn, 24 February. Formed and fronted by Newry-born brothers Brendan and Declan Murphy, The 4 Of Us has a strong musical identity which has produced original and award-winning recordings. 3. The Bob Dylan Band, Coleraine, 8 February. The Bob Dylan Band celebrate Dylan’s music with a high energy approach to songs from the prolific periods of his writing from the ’60s to modern times. 4. The Fureys in Concert, Downpatrick, 9 February. As part of their 40th Anniversary tour, Irish legends, the Fureys return for another great night of music, songs and stories to the Down Arts Centre. Their emotive songs stir many emotions.
5. Living History – Meet Our Norman Knight, Newtownards, 10-11 February. Discover more about Castle Espie’s Norman past, as part of a new history series. Uncover where the original “castle” was situated and children can try on authentic armour, all under the watchful gaze of a resident Norman knight.
6. Winter Warmer: A Dram on the Bann, Coleraine, 10 February. Boat trip on the beautiful River Bann offering a relaxed and informative afternoon of whiskey and gin sampling, food tasting and a light sprinkling of stunning scenery and wildlife on the Bann Estuary. 7. The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Belfast, 10 February. Global sensation The pipe band bring their tour to Belfast’s SSE Arena. From their formation in 2002 and a cameo appearance at T in the Park in 2004, to opening the main stage in their own right in 2014, the past 15 years has seen the Red Hot Chilli Pipers become the most famous bagpipe band on the planet.
8. An Evening at The Waterfront with Carl Frampton, Belfast, 9 February. Spend an evening with the Pride of Belfast, ‘The Jackal’ Carl Frampton, as he talks about his career highlights from humble beginnings and amateur boxer days to becoming the two-weight World Champion and a global megastar.
9. The Script, Belfast, 6 February. In celebration of their new album Freedom Child, The Script are back.The Irish three-piece are one of the biggest live bands, having sold over 1.4 million tickets across 203 headline shows and they sold out the legendary Croke Park stadium, see them play at the SSE Arena.

10. The Great Concertos: Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, Belfast, 9 February. Beethoven’s Violin Concerto is the first giant of the genre and it is only fitting that it forms part of a season devoted to the Great Concertos. In this rescheduled concert, Sergey Khachatryan returns to the Ulster Hall with the Ulster Orchestra to perform the piece. Renowned as one of the great modern interpreters of the Concerto, this concert will be a spell-binding night of utter virtuosity.

3. Vintage, Classic & Sports Car Show, Newcastle, 26-18 January. Filling the Slieve Donard Hotel’s Grand Ballroom will be more than 40 vehicles spanning 60 years of automotive history, all of them lovingly restored and maintained by their local owners.
4. Oh What A Night – Jersey Guys, Newry, 1 February. Oh What A Night – Shane Nolan and Jersey Guys pay homage to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons at the Bank Parade, Newry. Celebrating all of the hits by Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons with fantastic vocal harmonies and dance moves.
5. NI Motorcycle Festival 2018, Lisburn, 2 – 4 February. Bringing entertainment for all the family, The NI Motorcycle Festival includes stunt shows, aerial displays, drifting and celebrity guests. Don’t miss out on this exciting motorcycle festival coming to the Balmoral Park, Lisburn.
6. Gilbert and George: Scapegoating Pictures for Belfast, Belfast, 26 January-22 April. Occupying all three of The MAC’s gallery spaces, this large-scale exhibition marks the 50th anniversary of Gilbert and George’s collaborative practice, which began when they met as students at St Martin’s School of Art, in 1967. Since this time, they have created work collaboratively, declaring themselves to be ‘two people, one artist’.
7. World Wetlands Day at Castle Espie, Co. Down, 2 February. Experience the sights and sounds of Castle Espie during an exclusive one hour tour of the reserve as we celebrate World Wetlands Day. Tours last approximately one hour and take place at 12.00, 14.00 and 15.00.
8. Cookery Demonstration with Paula McIntyre, Co. Down, 31 January.  Cookery demonstration with one of Northern Ireland’s leading chefs Paula McIntyre comes to the Millbrook House Hotel, Ballynahinch. Paula hosts the cookery slot on Radio Ulster’s Saturday magazine programme and also writes a weekly recipes column for The Sunday Life Magazine.
9. Gradam Ceoil TG4 Traditional Music Awards, Belfast, 4 February. Gradam Ceoil TG4 comes to The Waterfront, Belfast, the first time in its 21-year history. The live concert and award ceremony features the best artists in Irish music and song celebrating their talents and achievements. Gradam Ceoil is known as the Oscars of traditional music and the two hour live concert will be broadcast on TG4 and worldwide on TG4.ie.
10. Dumped Divorcee Support Group, Derry~Londonderry, 29 January – 3 February. The smash hit, critically-acclaimed show ‘The Dumped Divorcee Support Group’, saw the divorcees ride off into the sunset with their new partners to live happily ever after. Right? Wrong. After another major disaster in their love lives, Rosie and Eileen are homeless and living with Maura in her two-bedroom house and the situation is explosive. Occupying all three of The MAC’s gallery spaces, this large-scale exhibition marks the 50th anniversary of Gilbert and George’s collaborative practice, which began when they met as students at St Martin’s School of Art in 1967. Since this time, they have created work collaboratively, declaring themselves to be ‘two people, one artist’.
4. Martin Harley and Daniel Kimbro, Lisburn, 27 January. The dynamic transatlantic duo of Martin Harley and Daniel Kimbro take to the road again for their ‘Feet Don’t Fail Me’ tour. Always engaging and far from predictable, these two musicians at the top of their game seek to push the boundaries of blues, folk and American roots music at the Lagan Valley Island.
5. David O’Doherty, Derry~Londonderry, 27 January. David O’Doherty is delighted to present an evening of his latest jokes and songs at the Millennium Forum Theatre. David has spent the last year on tour round America with Flight of the Conchords and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
6. Ulster Orchestra – I Love Burns Night!, Belfast, 27 January. Bring on the haggis and join the Ulster Orchestra and friends for the ultimate Burns Night celebrations at the Waterfront Hall. This uplifting spectacle of dancing, singing, pipes and poetry, accompanied by the sumptuous sounds of the Ulster Orchestra, is an ever-fitting, annual tribute to ‘The Bard’ himself.
7. Print Workshop, Limavady, 18 January – 24 February. Enjoy this new exhibition coming to the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre. Monochrome and colour, sharp lines and atmospheric moods, coming together as a fascinating demonstration of the scope of printmaking as an art form.
8. Belfast Burns Week 2018, Belfast, 22-27 January. The Ulster-Scots Agency has launched Belfast Burns Week 2018 to celebrate the 25 January birthday of Robert Burns. The week will take place in various venues across Belfast and will incorporate a programme of drama, poetry, music, concerts and lectures. For more information visit VisitBelfast.com.
9. Imbolc International Music Festival, Derry~Londonderry, 28 January – 4 February. A celebration of music reflecting the diversity of the contemporary Irish music scene. Alongside longstanding masters of the tradition, the festival will showcase music at the cutting edge of genres. With concerts, workshops, film screenings, community and participatory events and events for children, there is something for everyone.
10. Threepenny Opera, Belfast, 27 January- 10 February.  Northern Ireland Opera and the Lyric Theatre present Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill’s thrilling and darkly comic masterpiece The Threepenny Opera, featuring classic songs such as ‘The Ballad of Mack the Knife’ and ‘Pirate Jenny’.

4. The Streets of Donaghadee Exhibition, Newtownards, 6-27 January. Donaghadee Historical Society present this exhibition on ‘The Streets of Donaghadee’, featuring the old hotels, pubs and businesses of Donaghadee’s past.This exhibition is free for all to visit in The Space at Ards Visitor Information Centre. Please note it is closed on Sundays.
5. Secrets From the Government Files: 1992, Belfast, 11 January. Dr Eamon Phoenix, a political historian and Irish News columnist, and Sam McBride, the Political Editor of the News Letter and the Northern Ireland Political Editor for the i newspaper, will reveal the secrets behind the news headlines from government files of 1992 at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland.
6. Foil, Arms & Hog – OinK, Belfast, 11 January.  Former children and regular eaters Foil, Arms & Hog are back with the Northern Irish premiere of their new show on the Ulster Hall stage. OinK is a fast paced sketch show featuring a collection of songs for the elderly, a baggage handler’s interpretive dance and a shop that naively sells only balaclavas. 7. Jake O’Kane – Cool FM Comedy Club, Belfast, 10-13 January. Jake O’Kane, Northern Ireland’s top comic and star of the BBC panel show ‘The Blame Game’, brings his brand new show entitled ‘Still Sittin’ on the Fence’ to the Waterfront Hall. In his traditional end-of-year review show, Jake will be casting a satirical eye over the preceding 12 months, combining stories and pictures from the Irish News with the madness of the Internet to debunk the great, the not so great, and himself. This miniature railway, built and run by volunteers, captures the atmosphere of a full sized railway with a station, signal box, bridges, platform, cuttings, tunnel and level crossing.
4. Ulster Orchestra Viennese, Derry~Londonderry, 7 January. Start 2018 with this glittering tribute to Vienna and Strauss which is a true delight for the eyes and ears at the Millenium Forum. Featuring a stunning programme of whirling waltzes and sweeping melodies accompanied by guest artists, let the luscious bars of the Blue Danube Waltz leave your heart beating in triple time.
5. Run Forest Run, Tollymore Forest Park, 6 January. Tollymore 5K/10K is the fifth race in the Belfast Telegraph Run Forest Run Series and a great New Year challenge to work off the festive treats. The race route takes in panoramic views of the Mourne Mountains and through the beautiful forest where scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed.
6. Conal Gallen in Concert, Ballynahinch, 6 January. The hilarious comedian Conal Gallen will have everyone in laughter with his fun, laughter and stories. Followed by dancing to The Barry Doyle Band, so get your dancing boots on and head for the Millbrook House Hotel for this live show.
7. The High Kings, Derry~Londonderry, 6 January. ’Folk and Roll’, multi-platinum artists ‘The High Kings’ showcase their incredible versatility, bringing a great acoustic flavour to original songs as well as some old favourites at the Millennium Forum. Together they play thirteen instruments during their performances and their singing is especially noted for its close harmonies.
8. Winter Skate 2017/2018, Belfast, 29 December 2017– 6 January 2018. This Christmas you can skate at the home of The Stena Line Belfast Giants. Enjoy skating on the ice rink at SSE Arena on a range of selected dates in December 2017 and January 2018.
9. Kickstart Your Wellbeing Saturday Sessions, Newtownards, 6 January.
