6. Derek Ryan Summer Concert, Slieve Donard Resort, Newcastle, 29 June. Irish country music’s golden boy has chart topping albums, self-written smash hit singles, box office busting live tours and an army of faithful fans around the world. So dust off your dancing boots and get on down to Newcastle for a night of foot tapping country music.
7. Belsonic, Belfast, various dates. Green Day, Axwell ^ Ingrosso and The Chainsmokers are headlining this week at Belsonic’s new venue, Ormeau Park.
8. The Ladykillers, Lyric Theatre, Belfast, 10 June – 8 July. A celebrated black comedy tale of a sweet innocent old lady, alone in her home, pitted against a gang of criminal misfits who will stop at nothing.
9. Naturally North Coast & Glens Artisan Market, Ballymoney, 30 June. Colourful art and crafts, the delicious smell and taste of fresh food produce and the sound of musicians providing a backdrop to the buzz of traders and customers chatting and laughing.
10. Comber Historical Walking Tour, County Down, 2 July. Stroll through the home town of Thomas Andrews, designer of the Titanic, and discover points of historical interest on this guided tour. Visit St Mary’s Parish Church, the Comber Stones, the old Andrews Mill and Andrews Memorial Hall on your tour of this charming town.

3. Royal Irish Fusiliers Museum exhibition – 1917 Misery and Mud, Armagh, until 30 June. The fourth year of the Great War saw the Third Battle of Ypres, commonly known as The Battle of Passchendaele. It would become infamous. The Royal Irish Fusiliers spent 1917 on all fronts. A more fluid war was underway in the Region of The Levant and the glorious capture of Jerusalem was the aim.
4. Barry Kirwan at the Silverbirch, Omagh, 23 June. Having been nominated ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at the 2016 RTE Irish Country Music Awards, Barry Kirwan is set to take the Irish country scene by storm. Jive, dine and accommodation offers available from the hotel.
5. Minibeast & Moth Hunt, Fermanagh, 24 June. Hunt for unseen wildlife in habitats throughout the Marble Arch National Nature Reserve. 6. Mourne International Walking Festival, Warrenpoint, 23-25 June. Stunning routes in the Mourne Mountains and Ring of Gullion for walkers of all levels of fitness, between 10k and 40k at both high and low level.
7. Rhythm of the Bann, Coleraine, 24 June. An evening featuring a wide variety of Celtic influenced, contemporary and traditional musical performances in the historic Market Yard, with artists from Isle of Skye and Spain joining local musicians and dancers in an outdoor concert, hosted by Tim McGarry and Dr David Hume.
8. Midsummer Evening Concerts at Mussenden Temple, Castlerock, 23-24 June. A number of instrumentalists from the Ulster Orchestra will present a programme of music on summer melody themes, followed by a light supper. Booking essential on 028 20 768798.
9. MCM Comic Con, Lisburn, 24-25 June. A pop-culture weekend extravaganza at the Eikon Exhibition Centre featuring everything from comics, movies, games and sci-fi to cosplay, anime, steampunk and online video.
10. Irish Game Fair & Fine Food Festival, Co. Antrim, 24-25 June. Fun for all the family at Shane’s Castle, from angling, archery and air rifles to falconry, fine food, ferrets and fun.

1. The Stone Roses, Belfast, 13 June. 2. Salmon & Whiskey Festival, Bushmills, 17-18 June. Taste whiskey and learn about how it is made, alongside cookery demonstrations and restaurants promoting locally sourced salmon and Bushmills as key ingredients.
3. Father’s Day at Carrowmena, Limavady, 18 June. Dads go free on this fun day out for all the family.Choose from activities including zip lining, archery and a climbing wall.
4. Belsonic, Belfast, various dates. This week sees the music festival kick off at its new venue, Ormeau Park, with indie rock band Arcade Fire and support from The Kooks. Other headline acts through June include The 1975, Cream Classical Live, Martin Garrix and Jess Glyne.
5. Archaeology 101, Divis and The Black Mountain, 17 June. Have a taster session of excavation work, making bronze age style pottery, and receive a guided tour of the site and see the ancient art of stone knapping in action. 6. Comber Earlies Festival, Comber, 17 June. See what the fuss is about and taste some Comber Earlies for yourself, sample a range of delicious local produce from gourmet burgers to artisan fudge, or find inspiration at the cookery demonstrations taking place throughout the day in the festival kitchen.

10. Laurentic Exhibition, Derry~Londondery, until 21 June. It has been 100 years since the famous Laurentic sank off Lough Swilly on a bitter cold night in January 1917. This Tower Museum exhibition tells the story of the famous ship, the numerous salvage operations and the search for the elusive gold still on board.

1. Tony Villiers and the Villians at Crusoes, Derry~Londonderry, 6 May. Tony Villiers and the Villains are making their first appearance at Crusoes. The Armagh born singer songwriter will be backed by his lean mean barroom band “The Villians” with a folk-blues sound carved from the music legends such as Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters and Hank Williams. 19.30pm.  Easter Eggspress Steam Train, Belfast to Whitehead

1. . April 17-18. All aboard the Easter Eggspress steaming along to Whitehead from Belfast Central Station! Fun for all the family, plus Easter eggs for the children. There might even be an ‘eggstra’ special passenger on board with a special surprise for the best behaved children. All tickets £13.
2. Tommy Tiernan Comedy Night, Newcastle. Slieve Donard Resort & Spa, Sat 22 April. Due to phenomenal demand Tommy Tiernan has added extra shows to his Under The Influence tour. Allow yourself be guided by a language loving and theatrical performer with a half thought out plan, no professional qualifications and a mouth with a mind of its own. Can you trust him? To be silly, yes. To behave, no. Like a bus conductor standing in front of an orchestra with a spoon in one hand and air horn in the other what could possibly go wrong. This promises to be a night of fun and loads of laughter. 8.30pm, over 18s only, £25.
3. Half-term Multicultural Festival, Omagh. Easter Monday, 17 April, sees the return of the Big Family Picnic at An Creagán. To mark the beginning of Spring the annual event invites family’s to enjoy a fun filled day out in the great outdoors. Experienced picnickers can bring their own lunch or if you prefer the easy option there will be food and snack stalls for you to put together your own lunch without the hassle. A magical family adventure through a journey of imagination. Every clearing and glade holds a new way to unleash your creativity. Unique workshops will allow children to create their very own artworks. 12-4pm, £3, children under 1 enter for free.
4. Nature Walk and Yoga, Craigavon. Sat 22 April. The RSPB’s Portmore Lough nature reserve is home to all sorts of amazing wildlife – from birds to butterflies, badgers to bees. Join RSPB NI warden Laura Smith for a guided tour of this haven for nature, with highlights including spectacular views over the lough and the hustle and bustle of breeding season on the meadows. After the walk enjoy a cuppa in the community room followed by a relaxing nature-themed indoor yoga session with expert Claire Ferry. This event is designed to clear your mind and recharge your batteries – the perfect antidote to busy modern life. Please note this event is not open to under 16s. All equipment is supplied but please wear/bring suitable clothing and footwear. 2-4pm. £10, RSPB members £6.
5. 2017 Betway Premier League Darts, Belfast. SSE Arena, Thurs 20 April. The world’s top darts stars will return to Belfast with the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson competing for the prestigious title. The Betway Premier League sees ten stars competing across four months at arenas in the UK, Ireland and Netherlands in a bid to win the coveted trophy, which was claimed for a second time by van Gerwen in 2016. The Premier League, televised live by Sky Sports and broadcast worldwide, has also been won six times by legendary Stoke star Taylor since its inception in 2005, with Scottish hero Anderson – the back-to-back world champion – claiming the title twice and both James Wade and Raymond van Barneveld also lifting the trophy. £24.50 – £44.
6. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Belfast. Grand Opera House, 18-22 April. Christopher, fifteen years old, stands beside Mrs Shears’ dead dog. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight and Christopher is under suspicion… Winner of seven Olivier Awards and five Tony Awards including ‘Best New Play’, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time brings Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel to thrilling life on stage, adapted by two-time Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens and directed by Olivier and Tony Award-winning director Marianne Elliott. 7. Easter at Carrowmena, Limavady. 16-19 April. There are lots of activities taking place this Easter at Carrowmena with an Easter egg canoe hunt and glamping trail. 8. Showing Off, Derry~Londonderry. Tues-Sat until 20 May. VOID Gallery presents a programme of documentary, experimental and dramatic works in association with Women Make Movies (WMM) New York. ‘Showing Off’ is an exhibition of moving image by women artists and filmmakers that explores the international diversity, history and achievement of women film makers and artists curated by Mhairi Sutherland. The thematic framework is that of civil rights explored from a feminist perspective, viewed through the lens of current events impacting on movement and immigration issues.
9. Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts, Fermanagh. Bunny’s been up to his old tricks! He’s left clues all over Fermanagh for you to solve and pick up your chocolate Cadbury prize. Cadbury Egg Hunts are running at Castle Coole, Forence Court and Crom from 15 – 18 April from 11am daily. Stop in with our volunteers and staff to pick up your trail sheet, then head out around the grounds to find the answers and solve the clue. All the trails should bring you back to where you started where you can pick up your Cadbury chocolate prize. £1.
10. Bushmills Food Tour. 21-22 April. Learn how forward-thinking and innovative the people of this village were and how much good food is now on offer. Take a walking tour around local shops, delis and restaurants to taste local soda bread, goat bacon, hot-roasted smoked salmon and wash it all down with a glass of Bushmills 12-year-old whiskey. £40pp.

• Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea, The Argory, Co. Armagh, March 27. Treat your mum or someone special this year to Afternoon Tea at The Argory this Mothering Sunday. • Comet Man Stargazing, Cushendun, Co. Antrim, March 31. Join Nicholas Wright as he tells the story of the fascinating life, works and achievements of Cushendun born Astronomer Andrew Claude de la Crommelin. This event gives people the opportunity to explore the night sky and enjoy the wonders of the Universe in a stargazing event funded by the Royal Society and supported by the Northern Ireland Armature Astronomy Society. • Opera Film Club: The Magic Flute, Portico, Co. Down, April 1. Portico’s second Opera Film Club show is Mozart’s Magic Flute from the Dutch National Opera in Association with the English National Opera.  Join renowned music critic Michael Quinn for an introduction to the evening’s film and then sit back and enjoy world class opera in the glorious surroundings of Portico.  A complimentary glass of wine will be served at the interval.

• Chekhov’s Shorts, Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast, March 30 – 31. Including ‘The Evils of Tobacco’, ‘The Dimwit’, ‘The Bear’, Swan Song’ and ‘The Proposal’, this is Chekhov at his comic best, before Uncle Vanya started shooting, The Seagull got stuffed, The Cherry Orchard was ‘car-parked’ and The Three Sisters started moaning. Why spend an evening going to see one great play when you can see five in under two hours for the price of one?

• Strabane Drama Festival, The Alley Theatre, Co. Tyrone, until April 1. Strabane Drama Festival is an integral part of the cultural and creative identity of the area. With a mix of comedy, tragedy, classical pieces and original writing, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Highlights include Blackbird, Dancing at Lughnasa and Portia Coughlan.

• The Game, MAC, Belfast, April 1. This challenging show gives audiences an insight into a world that sits uncomfortably beneath the surface of the day-to-day lives. It is a play that’s also a real-life game, with levels and consequences. Five new men have volunteered each night. These men have never played ‘The Game‘ before. They’ve no idea what they’re about to do, they won’t be given a script.  All you have to do is watch.

• Waggy Races, Portstewart Strand, Derry~Londonderry, March 26. Waggy Races is a cross country fun run where you compete as a team with your dog! Pack your sunglasses, your finest beach attire and your dog as this year’s race will take place on the golden sands of one of Northern Ireland’s finest beaches, Portstewart Strand. The race will start at low tide, which means lots of beach to work with and the BIG START will be at the entrance to the beach!
