Here are ten exciting things to do 14 – 20 October

 

1. Belfast International Arts Festival, 16 October – 26 November. Belfast International Arts Festival returns for its 62nd edition this October, bringing together today’s leading artists, writers, thinkers and cultural observers for an extended bumper five weeks of entertaining and enlightening talks, readings, exhibitions and performance from home and abroad. Fresh from its hugely successful off-Broadway run, The Vanishing Elephant by Cahoots, an epic tale of friendship and adventure that features extraordinary on-stage puppetry and magical illusion, takes to the stage at the Grand Opera House from 31 October – 2 November.
2. Royal Ulster Academy’s Annual Exhibition at the Ulster Museum, Belfast, 18 October – 6 January. The exhibition provides a unique platform for acclaimed artists and emerging talent to showcase their artwork. You can expect to see the full range of visual arts represented from painting, sculpture and audiovisual works to ceramics, textiles and mixed media. Alongside artworks by the RUA Academicians, there will be work on display by 200 artists from all over the world, selected through open submission.
3. Creepy Campfire Tales at W5, Belfast, 12 October – 3 November. W5 is conjuring up an experience like no other this Halloween season, transforming their state-of-the-art AMAZE space into a spine-chilling campsite deep within an ancient forest. Get ready to immerse yourself in a world where every shadow holds a secret, and every whisper in the dark could be something… or someone… just beyond the reach of the firelight.
4. Maxwell’s Pumpkin Patch, Castlederg, County Tyrone, 12,13,19,20,26,27,28,29,30 October. Dust off your wellies, grab a wheelbarrow, and let your little munchkins explore. A unique, fun-filled outdoor family activity where you can pick your perfect pumpkin and get into the Halloween spirit.
5. Strabane Halloween Hay Bale Sculpture Trail, various locations, County Tyrone, 17 – 31 October. Unearth a host of spooky characters rising from the rural landscape as you follow the eerie trail through the district. From Castlederg to Bready, Newtownstewart to Strabane, catch sightings of scary witches, creepy spiders and weird and wonderful creatures created by the wonderful community.
6. Granda Ben’s BOO Trail at Todd’s Leap, Ballygawley, County Tyrone, until 31 October. Come along to Granda Ben’s ‘BOO’ Trail this October as it’s transformed into a Halloween Hunt. Explore their Ethical Zoo Trail, trek through forests on your Fun Halloween Hunt, find all the dinosaur gravestones, make a potion in the witch’s kitchen, make your way through the spider’s web maze and so much more.
7. Apple Sundays at Ardress House, Annaghmore, County Armagh, 20 October. Set in the middle of orchard county, this is the ideal location to hear all about Armagh’s famous apples and have some family fun. Have a go on the apple press and taste some local cider. You will also have the chance to pick some apples from the local orchard (limited availability).
8. Martel’s Candlelight Tour at Marble Arch Caves, Florencecourt, County Fermanagh, 19 October. Experience the thrill of this historic exploration first-hand as you accompany Martel in an authentic re-enactment of his groundbreaking discovery of the show cave, as it was over 128 years ago. With the electric lights switched off, you’ll journey underground through the cave’s natural darkness, guided solely by candlelight and lanterns.
9. Roe Valley Speciality Market, Limavady, County Londonderry, 19 October. If you love local fresh food, quirky handmade crafts, fine art, and speciality products, visit a Speciality Market day at Drumceatt Square, Limavady’s only communal public square. This lovely central outdoor space is next to the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre in the centre of Limavady town, conveniently located for exploring. Dogs are welcome provided they are on a lead, and entry to the market is free.
10. The Demon Head Gardener’s Ghoulish Gathering: Halloween trail at Rowallane Garden, Saintfield, County Down, 19 October – 3 November. There have been some strange happenings at Rowallane Garden. A few new faces have started to appear after the Demon Head Gardener put a call out for help around the garden. Monsters, ghosts and ghouls straight out of your nightmares have answered the call.

1. Belfast Restaurant Week, 7 – 13 October. Diners will get the opportunity to indulge in dining out and choosing from over 50 restaurants during Belfast Restaurant Week. Hundreds of mouthwatering menus catered for a variety of tastes and requirements, serving a diverse range of dishes to tickle your taste buds whether you’re seeking scrumptious steaks, vegan feasts or delicious dining experiences with Asian, Italian and Mediterranean influences.
2. Drawing Support: Murals, Memory and Identity at the Ulster Museum, Belfast, until February 2025. Bill Rolston has been photographing political murals in Northern Ireland since 1981 and has become a leading authority on the subject. This temporary exhibition will be based on his photographs, many of which have been published through five volumes entitled Drawing Support between 1991 and 2022.
3. Shane Todd – Full House at the Millennium Forum, Derry~Londonderry, 11 and 18 October. Shane Todd is about to hit the road with his biggest ever tour. The host of Tea With Me podcast is fresh off the back of a world tour and a record-breaking run of 16 shows at Belfast’s Grand Opera House. Northern Ireland’s (self-titled) prince of comedy is returning with a brand new laughter packed show.
4. Shades of Autumn Guided Walk around Mount Stewart, Newtownards, County Down, 9 October. Discover the enchanting beauty of National Trust’s Mount Stewart this autumn. Immerse yourself in a vibrant tapestry of colours from all corners of the world, nestled within the picturesque woodland gardens and tranquil lake. Also available on 19 October.
5. Taste AND at Clandeboye, Bangor, County Down, 12 – 13 October.  Enjoy the delicious tastes of the Borough at Taste AND at Clandeboye, a two-day speciality food and drink market organised by Ards and North Down Borough Council (11am – 5pm). Based in the exquisite Courtyard at Clandeboye Estate, the free two-day family friendly market will showcase the best artisan produce from Ards and North Down.
6. Cranfield Alpaca Beach Treks – Autumn Dates, Kilkeel, County Down, check website for dates and times. Enjoy walking your alpaca along country lanes and along the beautiful beach, then meet the rest of the gang, feed them and enjoy some refreshments while taking in the stunning panoramic views of Carlingford Lough and the Mournes.
7. A Dander through Davagh, Davagh Forest, County Tyrone, 11 October. Join the OM Dark Sky Park and Observatory for a guided walk through the lush green, almost fluorescent woodland that is Davagh Forest. Improve your mood, reduce stress and follow their lead through the many forest paths. This will be a moderate walk up to 8km. More dates available.
8. Dark Sky and Moon Observation on Geodiversity Day Killykeegan Nature Reserve, Florencecourt, County Fermanagh, 12 October. Join amateur astronomer Terry Mosley from the Irish Astronomical Association to experience the pristine dark skies of the Geopark and the abundance of stars and planets that are visible to the naked eye. A presentation on the universe will be delivered in the event of cloudy skies or rain.
9. Adult Halloween Besom Broom Workshop at Navan Centre and Fort, Armagh, County Armagh, 13 October. Join Heather McDermott Willow Craft for a very special day crafting your own adult sized Besom Broom using beautiful materials sourced sustainably from small native forests including coppiced Silver Birch and Hazel from Navan Fort.
10. Sunday Sessions at Killeavy Castle, Killeavy, County Armagh, 13 October. You’re invited to the original kitchen at Killeavy Castle. Fáinne Music will transport you with the lively beats of a ballad and the customary rhythms of a fiddle, all while savouring a drop of Irish whiskey, a refreshing pint of Guinness, or a comforting cup of tea.

1. Bushmills Salmon & Whiskey Festival, Bushmills, County Antrim, 4 – 6 October. Bushmills Salmon & Whiskey Festival will make a welcome return this autumn to celebrate the food, drink and local heritage of the area. The programme includes a wide variety of activities and events – including fantastic food and drink samplings and cookery demonstrations, unique bespoke hosted foodie tours and experiences, a self-guided Taste Trail to sample delicious dishes and cocktails . There’ll be live music as well as great street entertainment, a range of fun kids’ activities, craft workshops, fly casting & tying and much more.
2. Stargazing Evening at the Armagh Observatory and Planetarium, Armagh, County Armagh, 4 October. Join Armagh Observatory and Planetarium for a series of Stargazing evenings. For each session they will have a team of experts to help you navigate the night sky using their telescopes (weather depending) along with a dome show in their digital theatre and an astronomer talk.

5. Cinemagic International Film & Television Festival for Young People, Belfast, 5 October – 3 November. The 35th Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People will offer a programme of unmissable opportunities for young people this October with over 200 events in the Ulster Museum, Queen’s Film Theatre, The Belfast Barge, Accidental Theatre, Black Box, and ODEON Cinemas Belfast.
6. The Wiggle Room by Boom Clap Play at the Mac, Belfast, until 29 November. Step inside The Common Room on the third floor, and every move you make – whether it’s wave of the arm or a giant leap – unleashes a world of colourful characters, wild animations, and sounds that react in real-time. It’s a thrilling mix of physical and digital fun, transforming your playful energy into an interactive experience. 7. Exclusive Tour at Belleek Pottery | Lough Erne Heritage Festival, Belleek, County Fermanagh, 1 October. Discover the Magic of Belleek Pottery at the Lough Erne Heritage Festival. For just £20.00, delve into the rich history and exquisite craftsmanship that define Belleek Pottery.
8. Halloween Prelude, Derry~Londonderry, 4, 11, 18, 24 October. For visitors who will not be in Northern Ireland during Halloween, this intriguing small group tour explores several ancient sites and primeval habitats, where you will discover structures and plant species that can be linked to many of the rituals and traditions that collectively became known as “Samhain” or Halloween. On this informative, thought provoking and fun experience you will learn about some of the dark origins of ” Samhain” Halloween. Created by Foyle Trails.
9. Zombie Run at The Jungle NI, Moneymore, County Londonderry, 6 October. Zombie Run returns this year. This year’s course will be a challenging 6K obstacle run, complete with various ‘infected zones’ where you will be faced with the task of evading their life stealing zombies. After the Adult races, we have the Kids and Teens Zombie Runs with 2km and 6km zombie infested courses.
10. The Sperrin Sculpture Trail – a Giant Adventure, three locations across the Sperrins – Nowanois: The Storytellers – Glenelly Valley near Cranagh, Darach: The Guardian – Mullaghcarn Mountain, and Ceoldán: The Stargazer – Davagh Forest, County Tyrone, check website for timing details. Nestled in the heart of Northern Ireland, the Sperrin Mountains offer nature lovers and adventure seekers an unforgettable experience. Deep within this beautiful landscape, lie three gentle and majestic giants. Together, the trio form the Sperrin Sculpture Trail, an art installation created by world acclaimed artist, Thomas Dambo. Visitors will use the stunning walking trails and dramatic driving and cycle routes to travel between the sculptures enabling them to immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of the Sperrins.

1. Sound Links by Ulster Orchestra, Zeppo Arts and Townsend Street Enterprise, Belfast, 21 September. Townsend Street will be transformed for a one-day takeover festival of culture and creativity on International Peace Day. This vibrant outdoor event promises an unforgettable day for all ages filled with live music, bustling markets, dance performances and delicious food offerings.
2. Nobodaddy, Belfast, 17 and 18 September. Join for an unforgettable experience as Nobodaddy performs at the Waterfront Studio, as part of Belfast 2024. This is the world premiere of Nobodaddy, a coproduction by An Droichead and Teac Damhsa, a large-scale dance with a company of nine dancers and six musicians including the renowned folk singer and musician, Sam Amidon. While Nobodaddy is the name of a destructive divinity who appears in several of William Blake’s notebook poems, Teaċ Daṁsa’s Nobodaddy is an ode to the peacemakers and the bringers of good things.
3. Tour of Troubles and Beyond at the Ulster Museum, Belfast, 18 September. Join Modern History curator, Rebecca Laverty, on Wednesday 18th September for a guided tour of the Troubles and Beyond exhibition at Ulster Museum. The tour will explore the impact and legacy of the period known as ‘the Troubles’ through objects from their collections and first-hand accounts. The ‘Troubles and Beyond’ exhibition continues to evolve through feedback from visitors. It offers new insight into recently acquired objects and the continuing work of the museum.
4. Eugene Onégin at The Grand Opera House, Belfast, 14, 17, 19, 21 September. Love, friendship and fidelity collide with devastating consequences in this story of passion, pride, a moment’s madness, a duel and a true love lost. After two consecutive sold-out productions of ‘La Traviata’ in 2022 and ‘Tosca’ in 2023, Northern Ireland Opera returns to the Grand Opera House in September 2024 with Tchaikovsky’s stunning operatic masterpiece, ‘Eugene Onégin’.
5. Who Lives in a House Like This? Blessingbourne Estate, Fivemiletown, County Tyrone, 21 September. A special welcome will await you from the Lowry family home at the award-winning Blessingbourne Estate. A beautiful historic 550-acre Country Estate, nestled in the heart of woodlands, lakes and wildlife on the edge of the Clogher Valley. Colleen will allow you to delve into the estate’s captivating history. In the coach house Bronagh Duffin from BakehouseNI will demonstrate her traditional baking including her now very famous soda farls.

2. Fermanagh Pride 2024, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, 7 September. Fermanagh Pride are hosting their first ever Pride on the 7th of September. Join from 12:00pm on East Bridge Street for their parade beginning at 12:30pm. Have a fun-filled day at the stunning Enniskillen Castle from 1:00pm until 5:00pm where they will have live music, live performances, free kids entertainment, face painting, balloon modelling, food and drink, mini market and much more.
3. Fermanagh Art Club, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, 7 September. In this two-hour workshop, you will be guided through a painting by an experienced teacher and working artist. Learn new painting techniques and express your creativity making your very own piece of art to treasure. There’s a warm welcome and plenty of paint, so come along and learn how to make your own unique painting. This event is suitable for ages 6 – 14 years.
4. Eats and Beats Festival, Newcastle, County Down, 7 – 8 September. As summer fades, the Eats and Beats festival lights up Newcastle, celebrating the Mourne Gullion Strangford’s vibrant musical heritage and food scene. This festival is a foodie’s and music lover’s paradise with a wealth of flavours and incredible acts, in addition to events and festivities in venues right across the town. 5. Montalto House Guided Tour and Ballynahinch In Bloom, Ballynahinch, County Down, 4 September and 8 September. 7. Wee Buns Cookery School’s Bramley Apple Baking & Orchard Visit, Moy, County Tyrone, 7 September. Join this unique immersive experience focusing on the wonderful Bramley apples of County Armagh in a beautiful hilltop orchard off the beaten track. Visit a local orchard to chat with the owner Des Mackle and get the inside knowledge about the apples, his family business, the history and heritage. Then over to the cookery school where you will don your aprons, get baking and learn the secrets of traditional Irish baking using the Bramley apples and traditional recipes from County Armagh.
8. The Wee Binnian Walkers Hillwalking Festival, Warrenpoint, County Down, 6– 8 September. Join the annual three-day Walking Festival and hike in the stunning landscapes of the Mourne and the Cooley Mountains. Enjoy a variety of graded walks, led by trained and experienced leaders. Why not join and follow in the footsteps of Cúchulainn and see first-hand why this landscape was the inspiration for Narnia. On Saturday night, don’t miss the legendary Blister Boogie, the social highlight of the weekend, including dinner and dancing.

1. Marketplace Theatre and Arts Centre – Dom Martin and Paddy Raff, Armagh, County Armagh, 31 August. Two great, separate performances at the Marketplace Theatre and Arts Centre to enjoy. Dom Martin is a Belfast born multi award-winning artist who burst onto the music scene in 2019 with a unique guitar style and voice, captivating audiences everywhere. Award-winning Northern Irish comedy sensation Paddy Raff is back on tour with his brand new hilarious standup show ‘Gimme a Minute!’. This is one not to be missed!
2. Armagh Robinson Library, Armagh, visit website for opening dates and times. Push open the great Georgian door, climb the stairs, and step into the 18th Century. This Library, founded by Archbishop Robinson in the heart of the city and was built to display his own collection of books and fine art for public use. Discover some of the library’s many treasures, including Jonathan Swift’s own copy of Gulliver’s Travels, 1726, with corrections in his own handwriting.
3. Wellbrook Beetling Mill Tours and Woodland Walk, Cookstown, County Tyrone, visit website for opening dates and times. One of the most unique National Trust properties in Northern Ireland, from its picturesque location to its unmistakable character and charm, the mill is the last working water-powered linen beetling mill in Northern Ireland. Hear about the detailed history of the mill from a National Trust tour guide. Wellbrook also offers an idyllic setting for a picnic, with ample parking adjacent to the mill. Open weekends throughout August.
4. Symphonic September – Ulster Orchestra on Your Doorstep at Ranfurly House, Dungannon, County Tyrone, 1 September. What better way to start September than with a symphonic afternoon? The Ulster Orchestra make their annual visit to Hill of The O’Neill, a firm favourite in their calendar, for another performance of best-loved classical favourites, music from stage and screen and a few surprises along the way.
5. Bat Walks at Crom, Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh, 29 August. If you’re keen to learn more about bats and what types of species live at Crom, this is the event for you. Rangers will guide you on a 1.5 hour walk around the estate where you’ll hear about what species are found on the estate, before going to view some of their roosts. Enjoy learning about these incredible creatures at this is a family-friendly event.
6. Seamus Heaney HomePlace Book Club, Bellaghy, County Londonderry, 1 September. A story is always better if you have someone to share it with and what better spot to meet and share stories than HomePlace. Join Carol and Patricia at this relaxed and friendly book club. Meeting monthly, the club chooses accessible and entertaining books relating to themes found in Seamus Heaney’s work.
7. Summer Garden Tours and Family-Friendly Tours at Springhill, Magherafelt, County Londonderry, 26,28,30 August. Mark the end of summer with a tour of Springhill. Offering both garden tours on 26^th August, as well as little learner tours on 28^th and 30^th Springhill has a beguiling spirit that captures the heart of every visitor.  Described as ‘one of the prettiest houses in Ulster’, its welcoming charm reveals a family home with portraits, furniture and decorative arts that bring to life the many generations of Lenox-Conynghams who lived here from 1680.
8. Heritage Day at Clifton House, Belfast, County Antrim, 1 September. Come and celebrate the 250th anniversary of Clifton House with a celebration of their history, traditional heritage skills, local crafts, live music, food, and a chance to share your memories of north Belfast through their history harvest, part of the Great Place North Belfast project.
9. The Copeland Distillery Tour, Donaghadee, County Down, 31 August. Truly immerse yourself at The Copeland Distillery, where you’ll hear tales of secret smugglers, savage battles and remarkable voyages, all while soaking up the coastal spirits of whiskey, gin, and rum. You’ll find the distillery in the old picture house, situated a stone’s throw from the harbour, where you can take in the historic sites of the iconic lighthouse before your tour.

Here are ten exciting things to do 19 – 25 August

 

1. Belfast Mela, 17 – 25 August. A week-long celebration of culture, colour and creativity that comes together across a magical series of events finishing with the fabulous festival finale at Botanic Gardens. Belfast Mela is the city’s annual celebration of global cultures and sees tens of thousands of visitors come together to celebrate our people and diversity.
2. Ould Lammas Fair, Ballycastle, County Antrim, 24 – 27 August. Every year, thousands flock to the beautiful seaside town of Ballycastle for the Ould Lammas Fair. Traditionally held on the last Bank Holiday weekend of the summer, the town bustles with street trading, bargaining, traditional music, dancing, horse trading, amusements, artisan markets and more. The fair launches with a spectacular fireworks display at the Seafront on Saturday 24th August, complemented by live music and a twilight market. There is also a live music concert in The Diamond on Sunday 25th August. Don’t forget to pick up some Dulce or Yellow Man – a local sweet speciality.
3. Museum Late: Keep ‘Er Lit at Ulster Museum, Belfast, 22 August. Expect the unexpected at the Ulster Museum Late from 18:00 to 22:00 – an experience for adults only. Get creative with life drawing, watch adult science shows and try the museum’s VR and experimental synth stations. Explore the Archaeology Neolithic Minecraft world and follow a Trad Trail with An Droichead, plus so much more.
4. Summer of Play at Florence Court, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, until 1 September. Join the fun at Florence Court this summer with ‘all the fun at the fair’ games, and the new obstacle course just beside the mansion. 5. Hillsborough Castle Summer Fair, Royal Hillsborough, County Down, 24 – 26 August. Celebrate the bank holiday weekend at the magical Hillsborough Castle and Gardens. Explore a variety of stalls with the finest local produce and crafts as our artisan producers bring you the best in gourmet foods and unique handmade items. Soak up the atmosphere and relax with live music all weekend against the picturesque backdrop of the castle.
6. Full Moon Paddle, Killinchy, County Down, 19 August. Join Strangford Lough Activity Centre for a Full Moon Paddle. Departing at twilight you will be guided by an instructor for a paddle out onto the water and around the lough’s maze of islands. With a favourable forecast, they hope to have a great view of the stars and moon, with the aim to stop and have a chat with a physicist who will entertain you with lots of night sky-related facts and folklore. After that, you’ll return to base for some hot chocolate & treats.
7. Foyle Tribute Festival, Derry~Londonderry, County Londonderry, 23 August. Mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening as the city plays host to a spectacular tribute concert in aid of three incredible charities, Foyle Search and Rescue, Foyle Pride, and the Foyle Hospice. Some top tribute acts are taking to the stage to deliver a show-stopping spectacular that will make you feel like you’re watching the real -stars. This event is family-friendly with a special, separate area dedicated to children and families who wish to attend in a fun and safe environment for fans of all ages.
8. International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition at the Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh, County Tyrone, 24 – 25 August. The Ulster American Folk Park will mark the UNESCO International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition. Learn how products like tobacco, cotton and sugar, cultivated by enslaved people, became part of the local economy in Ulster. Visit the Rogan House and find out how the former enslaved people created their own community in the face of many difficulties after gaining freedom in 1865.
9. Summer Seisiún 2024, Omagh, County Tyrone, 20 August. One of the longest running summer shows of its kind, Sesiún attracts increasing numbers of visitors from overseas and nearer home with a show that captivates its audiences and welcomes participation. After the show of authentic Irish traditional music, song, dance and storytelling, light refreshments are served during the short interval. The second part of the evening’s entertainment unfolds, and guests are invited to join the Comhaltas Seisiún experience, taking to the floor as they wish, with a step, tune, song, or story.

As part of the Lúnasa Festival, connect to the deep silence and palpable sense of peace within the sacred sites of Killeavy in Slieve Gullion. Ann Ward from Xhale will guide you gently onto the mountain and to the sacred pre-Christian well dedicated to Moninne. Rest, reconnect and breathe in the spectacular panoramic view during a guided meditation. Join artist Ruth Osborne and learn all about this playful printmaking process using a gel plate. You will be working with botanicals gathered from the National Trust garden at Rowallane. Throughout the day you will create a series of decorative printed paper and create unique collage works.

 

8. August Craft Month, Belfast and across NI, 28 July – 31 August. From jewellery-making classes, open studios where you can watch highly skilled artisans at work, to workshops onboard a famous battleship, the countdown is on for the annual celebration of Northern Irish craft. August Craft Month celebrates the vibrant local craft scene right across Northern Ireland, providing unique opportunities for people to get involved as well as supporting makers by buying products and learning more about their work.

1. Armagh Summer in the City, Armagh, County Armagh, until 7 September. 2. Big Wild Pyjama Party at Belfast’s Window on Wildlife, Belfast, 26 July. Join RSPBNI at Belfast WoW as they bring a new take to their award-winning event The Big Wild Sleep Out with an eve of nocturnal activities. From bat walks and campfires to storytelling and toasting your own marshmallows, they guarantee an eve of fun and exploration. Taking place from 19:00-22:00, nature will come to life for you and your family. This event is guaranteed to sell out, with limited ticket availability so purchase your tickets well in advance. You can also check out their Zoology of Cartoons on 27 July, where you will join artist, illustrator and conservationist Dan Collin for a workshop like no other.
3. Belfast Tradfest, various locations across Belfast, 21 – 28 July. Belfast TradFest, the pinnacle of world-class traditional music concerts and fiery pub sessions, is set to celebrate its 6th edition this July across Belfast UNESCO City of Music. The internationally renowned festival will mark this milestone with its most ambitious programme of music. Featuring concerts with the likes of Lúnasa, Lumiere, Cherish the Ladies, Moya Brennan, Pólca 4, Bow Brothers, JIGGY, Zoë Conway & John McIntyre, BIIRD, Mary Dillon, Dónal O’Connor & Neil Martin, Seamie O’Dowd, Seán Maguire Fiddle Concert, tutor concerts, céílís and the annual TITANIC CÉILÍ which attracted 6,000 last year.
4. NI Open, Ballymena, County Antrim, 23 – 28 July. The Black Desert NI Open presented by Tom McKibbin relaunched for 2024 and is back on the European Challenge Tour as one of the elevated events on the Tour’s international schedule. The NI Open takes place at Galgorm from July 23-28, 2024 and is free entry for everyone.
5. Literature, Lough and Local Flavours Tour with Seamus Heaney HomePlace, Bellaghy, County Londonderry, 24 and 27 July. Enjoy a day filled with literature, stunning landscapes, and delectable food. Begin your day at the Seamus Heaney HomePlace. Take a 45-minute journey from Toome Canal along the Lower River Bann to Lough Beg, turning at Church Island for the return. 6. SuperCupNI, Coleraine, County Londonderry, and venues across the Causeway Coast & Glens, Mid & East Antrim and Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council’s, 21 – 26 July. SuperCupNI is a magnet for top football clubs from all over the world. The 2024 Tournament kicks off on Sunday 21st July with the Opening Parade and Welcoming Ceremony in Coleraine Town Centre and Coleraine Showgrounds football stadium. Finals Day is scheduled for Friday 26th July, when venues across the Causeway Coast & Glens, Mid & East Antrim and Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council’s will play host to the tournament champions of the various categories which make up the event.
7. Seal Painting at Murlough Nature Reserve, Dundrum, County Down, 24 July. Spend an unforgettable afternoon with your family at the Family Ceramics & Rock Painting event. They’ll provide all the supplies you need to paint your very own ceramic seal figurine and decorate colourful rocks. Adults accompanying those painting enter free and need not buy a ticket.
8. Hats Off to the Forthill, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, 26 July. It will be ‘Hats off to the Forthill’ on Friday 26 July 2024 when the historic Forthill Park in Enniskillen hosts an afternoon of free family fun and entertainment from 2.00pm to 5.00pm. Everyone attending the event is encouraged to pack a picnic basket, wear their favourite hat and spend the afternoon in one of the Council’s most popular public parks.
9. Ulster Fleadh, Dromore, County Tyrone, 21 – 28 July. Fleádh Uladh is a cultural festival for traditional music, song, dance and language in Ulster. Fleádh Cheoil, which means “feast of music”, is a magnificent mix of competitions and cultural events which showcase each element of Irish traditional culture.
