Entrepreneurs Unleashed Conference to Empower Aspiring and Established Business Leaders in Belfast

Entrepreneurs from across Northern Ireland and beyond are set to gather in Belfast this November for the inaugural Entrepreneurs Unleashed Conference.

The event, designed to ignite entrepreneurial spirit and provide actionable insights, will take place on Thursday, November 28, at the Cathy Short Theatre, Jennymount Business Park in North Belfast.

Organised by media and marketing agency Excalibur Press, the conference is set to be a cornerstone event for business leaders looking to take their ventures to new heights.

The conference promises a diverse and dynamic lineup of speakers who will share their expertise on a wide range of topics essential for entrepreneurial success.

Tina Calder, chief vision officer at Excalibur Press and the driving force behind the event, explained the inspiration behind the conference: “Excalibur Press works with dozens of entrepreneurs each year and the one things we realised was there wasn’t an event completely dedicated to those small to medium businesses who wanted to find ways of taking their business to the next level.

“We are lucky to have a fantastic array of corporate partners, consultants, and associates we work with on a regular basis so we decided to incorporate the fantastic expertise and knowledge they bring to our extended team.”

The conference will cover a wide array of topics, from leveraging AI to drive innovation and growth, to mastering marketing strategies, and fostering inclusivity in the workplace.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from leading industry figures, including Tina Calder herself, alongside Ruth Young of Ruthless Media, Adam McBride of Excalibur Press, and Gary Gates & Cara Marks from Neurodiversity Spark, among many others due to be announced in the coming weeks.

Speaking of the content of the conference Tina added: “This conference brings together a diverse panel of industry experts to share insights on a wide range of topics crucial for entrepreneurial success.

“From sales and marketing strategies to leadership development, navigating the startup landscape, and protecting your business from cyber security attacks, Entrepreneurs Unleashed covers it all.

“With 20 slots planned throughout the day this is going to be one full on day of learning, networking and supercharging your business.”

Highlights of the event will include learning effective strategies for using AI in marketing, amplifying your brand presence using social media and Google Ads, fostering innovation and creativity within your business and much more.

The Cathy Short Theatre at Jennymount Business Park provides a unique venue for the event. Situated in the heart of lower North Belfast, the theatre offers a modern and inspiring environment for entrepreneurs to connect, learn, and grow.

And the venue location has been a very strategic booking for conference host and creator Tina, she explained: “I’m really excited about this line-up and to have found an amazing venue hidden away in lower North Belfast is a bonus.

“Being an entrepreneur myself from lower North Belfast, I know the challenges people face in working-class areas when they want to step into the world of self-employment for the first time.

“To be able to bring entrepreneurs from across the country to the Cathy Short Theatre at Jennymount Business Park is a lovely bonus for me.”

Attendees at Entrepreneurs Unleashed will not only gain valuable knowledge from expert speakers but will also have the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals, exchange ideas, and explore new business opportunities.

The conference is tailored to cater to both those just starting out and seasoned business leaders looking to elevate their ventures to the next level.

Entrepreneurs Unleashed has been sponsored by Belfast City Council, MovieHouse, Oranga Creative and Excalibur Press.

TIME IS TICKING TO SEE HERO CAPTAIN’S POCKET WATCH AT TITANIC BELFAST

TITANIC Belfast has welcomed the pocket watch gifted to RMS Carpathia’s Captain, Arthur Rostron for his heroic efforts, which will be on public display for a limited time.

The luxury 18ct gold Tiffany & Co. timepiece, on loan from Wiltshire auction house Henry Aldridge and Sons until the end of October, was presented to Captain Rostron by the widows of high-profile businessmen, John Jacob Astor, George Dunton Widener and John B. Thayer – victims of RMS Titanic’s sinking.

Rostron Pocket Watch…A luxury 18ct gold Tiffany & Co. pocket watch, gifted to RMS Carpathia’s Captain, Arthur Rostron for his heroic efforts in rescuing over 700 surviving passengers and crew of RMS Titanic, has gone on public display at Titanic Belfast until 31st October. Visitor Experience Crew Member, Katelyn Kelso is delighted to see the timepiece displayed within the leading visitor attraction, having been presented to Captain Rostron by the widows of high-profile businessmen, John Jacob Astor, George Dunton Widener and John B. Thayer. The artefact is on loan from Wiltshire auction house Henry Aldridge and Sons before it goes to auction on 16th November. For more details go to www.titanicbelfast.com

Captain Rostron’s quick reaction and bravery resulted in him and his crew rescuing over 700 surviving passengers and crew of RMS Titanic after the tragic sinking of the ship on her maiden voyage.

Madeleine Talmage Astor, Marian Longstreth Thayer and Eleanor Elkins Widener, whose husbands were considered three of the wealthiest businessmen in the world at the time, presented the pocket watch to Rostron ‘with heartfelt gratitude and appreciation’ during a lunch at the Astor mansion in New York on May 31st 1912, exactly one year after Titanic’s launch.

The pocket watch joins another of Captain Rostron’s heroic gifts, the Carpathia Loving Cup, which was presented to him by one of Titanic’s most famous survivors, Molly Brown. The Loving Cup is now permanently displayed as part of the Titanic Experience along with a collection of other rare artefacts.

The pocket watch will be free for the public to view on the Level 1 Apex of Titanic Belfast until 31st October before it goes to auction and will also be part of the visitor attraction’s Titanic Experience by Night events being held every Friday evening throughout August.

Judith Owens MBE, Chief Executive of Titanic Belfast said: “Captain Rostron is a significant part of RMS Titanic’s story as his heroic efforts ensured that over 700 of its passengers were rescued. We are proud to be able to publicly display his pocket watch until the end of October, presented to him by these high-profile widows and survivors of the tragic sinking.

This adds to the collection of artefacts we already have displayed within the Titanic Experience, including the Carpathia Loving Cup and an original Fosbery lifejacket, one of only twelve remaining from onboard Titanic. Only the survivors will understand the true heroics of Captain Rostron on that fateful night, but these artefacts are a lasting legacy of the unbelievable gratitude they had for this man.

We are honoured to have the pocket watch visit Titanic Belfast, giving the public an opportunity to view this piece of maritime history for free ahead of it going to auction. So we would encourage everyone to take this unique opportunity to come and view it before 31st October.”

Andrew Aldridge, Managing Director of Henry Aldridge and Sons, the world’s leading Titanic memorabilia auctioneers, said: “We are delighted to be able to place a watch of this importance with Titanic Belfast, the birthplace of Titanic this summer for visitors to enjoy prior to our specialist auction on November 16th. It’s a unique opportunity to see first-hand this stunning artefact, gifted to Arthur Rostron who was one of the heroes of the disaster.”

The Ulster Youth Orchestra, Northern Ireland’s award-winning national youth orchestra, is set to perform its summer concerts in the Guildhall, Derry-Londonderry on 16th August and the Ulster Hall, Belfast on 17th August 2024.

The Ulster Youth Orchestra is regarded as one of the jewels in the crown of the local arts scene, with a reputation for excellence in all its performances. Established in 1993, the Ulster Youth Orchestra continues to flourish as the premier showcase youth orchestra in Northern Ireland.

Following rigorous competitive auditions, 94 talented young musicians have been selected to attend the annual summer course in preparation for two public concerts in Derry-Londonderry and Belfast.  The young players will be coached by a team of highly experienced professional tutors during the intensive 10-day residential course at Greenmount Agricultural College, Antrim.

This year’s programme begins with the exuberant Overture to Colas Breugnon by Kabalevsky.  A riotous and accessible opener to set the mood!   Prokofiev picks up the dramatic baton as the audience are treated to a selection of movements from arguably one of the best loved ballets, Romeo and Juliet.  To close the concert, Bartók’s folk-inspired Concerto for Orchestra gives every section of the orchestra a chance to shine and dazzle in this eternally popular work.

Paula Klein, UYO General Manager, says:

“The excitement is palpable as the young people prepare this summer’s fantastic repertoire and we make our last-minute arrangements ahead of UYO 2024.  Many of this year’s members will be here for the first time which adds an exciting edge to the course as we uncover new talent.  We look forward to welcoming everyone, to working hard, having fun and to producing high quality, sparkling performances!”

The Ulster Youth Orchestra is grateful for the substantial funding it receives from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland to support its work.

Ciaran Scullion, Head of Music and Opera, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, added,

“The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is proud to be principal funder of the Ulster Youth Orchestra, the foremost youth music provider in the training, development, and showcasing of our finest young, classical musicians in Northern Ireland.  Funding from The National Lottery is a game changer in enabling this important organisation to create the next generation of classical musicians in the region, and I would encourage everyone to go along to the performances at the Guildhall and Ulster Hall, which promise to be two evenings of tremendous music.”

Belfast Manufacturing Exhibition & Conference Returns Next Month For 5th Year

The 5th instalment of the annual Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition will take place on September 12, boasting the biggest gathering of its kind in Northern Ireland.

The Titanic Exhibition Centre will host the event, bringing Belfast into the industry spotlight by offering a space for UK & Ireland’s manufacturing leaders to network.

Centred around recent technological developments and innovative approaches to research in the field, the day-long feat is open to both established and new professionals in the sector.

Several manufacturers of varying scales from Northern Ireland and beyond will be in attendance, providing their insights and experience to other event goers.

Managing Director, Colin Murphy, from organisers Premier Publishing & Events, said the conference and exhibition will serve as a platform for relevant manufacturing giants to discuss the country’s supply chain and pressing issues that the industry is currently facing.

He said: “Generating annual sales of about £20 billion, manufacturing is crucial to Northern Ireland’s economic development.

“Manufacturers directly employ 80,000 people while supporting further employment throughout the wider supply chain in every region of Northern Ireland.

“The manufacturing sector accounts for 13.4% of Northern Ireland’s economic output, significantly higher than the UK figure of 9.8%.

“Not just that but Northern Ireland’s manufacturers also generate almost half of the country’s external sales and more than half of export sales.

“The Northern Ireland Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition will encompass the full manufacturing spectrum across the country, including the food and drink, biopharma, medtech, healthcare, engineering, transport, technology, building products, fabrics, polymers, packaging and renewables sectors.”

Delegates from across different manufacturing sectors, such as food, pharmaceutical, medical, chemical, electronics and engineering, can be expected to speak on their experience, enabling everyone in attendance to understand potentially unseen sides of the market.

Dedicated exhibition areas will also allow professionals and businesses alike to meet with key technology providers.

Throughout the day the event will cover topical themes such as Procurement, Lean Manufacturing, Control & Automation, Supply Chain Optimisation, Information Technology Logistics, Energy Management, Facilities Management Sustainability, Project Management, Health & Safety Warehouse Management, Materials Handling & Robotics.

Colin added: “The Northern Ireland Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition will provide an ideal location for businesses to meet with Government agencies and supporting associations, and gain free advice from experts on how to improve operational performance.

“The Event will also provide networking zones to connect buyers and suppliers. Indeed, the layout of the Conference & Exhibition is intended to maximise the opportunity for visitors to network and make new contacts.”

Registration for the 2024 Northern Ireland Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition on September 12 at Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast is free. Tickets are available from www.northernirelandmanufacturing.co.uk/register
