Tickets will go on sale at 10am on Friday 18th November* via gigsandtours.com and ticketmaster.co.uk. Tickets for Belfast and Dublin will be available via ticketmaster.ie.

Supernova follows Diversity’s sold-out Connected tour earlier this year, which combined playful, comedic routines with powerful statements on human connectivity. Big, relentless, and energetic, the tour dazzled fans across the UK.

Diversity took the nation by storm when they won the third series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 and have since sold out multiple UK and Irish tours, with countless television and live performances. Alongside preparing for their brand-new tour, and in keeping with their progressive, innovative nature, Diversity are currently preparing to launch Diversity Studios, which will offer in person and live streamed dance classes.

Last month, Ashley Banjo was awarded an MBE for his services to dance. Alongside choreographing and performing with Diversity, Ashley has been committed to educating people on dance, becoming a judge on Dancing on Ice, and offering his expertise as a host and creative in the BAFTA nominated The Real Full Monty and International Emmy Award, Broadcast Award, and Royal Television Society Award winning The Real Full Monty: Ladies Night. Diversity’s illustrious career shows how they continue to innovate, grow, and achieve. Collectively Diversity recently won Virgin Media’s Must-See Moment of 2020 at the British Academy Television Awards for their incredible Britain’s Got Talent routine, watch here.

Diversity have also confirmed that they will be supporting anti-poverty charity the Trussell Trust**, which provides emergency food and support to people locked in poverty while campaigning for change to end the need for food banks in the UK. Right now, millions of people across the country are facing a cost of living crisis as food and energy prices soar and families are feeling the biggest squeeze on incomes in a generation. Attendees on the tour are being invited to bring along food donations to the shows, where there will be collection points across the venue each night. There will also be collection buckets for any cash donations. All donations will be distributed to people in crisis across the 1,300 food bank centres in the Trussell Trust network. NI Company Everun To Build £50m In Renewable Assets Creating 25 New Specialised Jobs

A renewable future is the only future for NI says local business

Northern Ireland renewables experts Everun are set to support investment in excess of £50m in wind and solar across the country over the next three years. The announcement comes as world leaders met at COP27 in Egypt last week.

Everun, which has been in operation since 2010, currently manages over £150m worth of renewable assets for clients across the Island of Ireland.

In the last year the company has invested over £2m bringing their workforce to 45 staff as well as significantly investing in high value stock, expanding their premises and wider infrastructure.

The company plans to invest a further £7.5m over the next three years to support the delivery of an additional £50m of renewable energy assets in Northern Ireland. That investment will also include creating a further 25 engineering and professional services jobs.

Managing director Michael Thompson said: “As part of our continued investment in developing energy generating wind and solar projects we are delighted to be able to play our part in delivering the Northern Ireland target of 80% renewable energy use by 2030 and to be in the position to create a further 25 highly specialised jobs within the sector.

“As a renewable energy management company that manages wind and solar renewable energy sources, EV charging, smart motor systems, and renewable switchover we recognise that we have a responsibility in the private sector to invest heavily in supporting the Northern Ireland Energy Strategy and Climate Change Bill.”

Mr Thompson says Northern Ireland as a whole has a long way to go to meet the 80% target. He added the potential to reach energy security is there but much work is still to be done by both government and the private sector.

“Northern Ireland has increased the amount of energy produced from renewables from near zero in 2010 to 45% this year,” he said.

“If Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK and Ireland are to meet the targets set, the production of energy must be supported with the right assets and technology, as well as investment in wider infrastructure by the Government.

“We have large energy-hungry businesses in manufacturing with a need for reliable energy sources, and bespoke software enables us to provide that reliability and cost efficiency from renewables.”

Already managing more than 160 wind turbines, on single sites and wind farms, as well as multiple solar installations, Everun are also celebrating their expansion into the Republic of Ireland market this year.

Mr Thompson said that Northern Ireland is at least four years behind the Republic of Ireland and the rest of the UK.

The Northern Ireland Climate Change Bill includes a Climate Action Plan to be published at the end of the year following Royal Assent in June.

“The rest of the UK and Republic of Ireland has been expanding renewable generation with a range of support mechanisms but Northern Ireland has lagged behind without a clear strategy from our Executive,” said Mr Thompson.

“That has consequences. Northern Ireland is being held back from an overall economic point of view due to the lack of investment in energy infrastructure and renewables.

“Our manufacturing sector is heavily reliant on huge energy usage, therefore the surging costs makes them less competitive leaving less profits for reinvestment.”

“We have to sort out issues such as planning and the electricity grid in order to achieve our targets which should include control of our own energy security. We should be ambitious enough to consider exporting power beyond NI, and then we can make our economy anything we want it to be.”

Mr Thompson added that with the right investment and determination the future can be exciting for the sector and the wider NI economy.

Award-winning Documentary ‘LYRA’ has emotional Derry screening

Last night, award-winning Irish documentary LYRA had an emotional private screening in Derry ahead of its UK and Ireland release today (Friday 4 November).

At a full-capacity cinema in Derry’s Omniplex, LYRA was shown for the first time to guests including civic leaders, friends and family of the late journalist. The screening was then followed by a Q&A with director, Alison Millar and Lyra’s partner, Sara Canning.

Directed by Alison Millar, BAFTA-winning director and close friend of Lyra McKee, LYRA is a beautiful and heartfelt film about the life and death of the internationally renowned Northern Irish investigative journalist Lyra McKee.

Raised in working-class, war-torn Belfast, McKee went on to highlight the consequences of the Troubles, seeking justice for crimes that had been forgotten since the Good Friday Agreement. Her murder by dissident Republicans the day before Good Friday in 2019 sent shockwaves across the world.

Using hours of voice recordings from Lyra’s own mobile, computer and Dictaphone, the documentary, which won the Audience Award at the Cork Film Festival, seeks answers to her senseless killing through Lyra’s own work and words. The result is a complex picture of Northern Ireland’s political history, bringing into sharp focus the ways in which the 1998 Good Friday agreement – with its promised end to violence for future generations – has struggled to be fully realised.

Speaking following the screening, Director Alison Millar said:

“Thanks to Wildcard Distribution, we are delighted to be able to share the incredible LYRA with the world, and to a full-capacity audience in Derry.

“This evening was hugely emotional, bringing Lyra’s story back to the city she he cared about so much. The making of this film was incredibly personal for me as a friend of Lyra’s and throughout the entire process I wanted to make sure that the world knew who Lyra was and, to do it through Lyra’s own words, made it all the more special.

“Alongside projecting Lyra McKee as a ‘fearless investigative journalist, determined and tenacious, honest in her approach’ I wanted this film to also capture the great warmth and infectious humour of the person I’d known for so many years.

“Through the use of her voice recordings (enabling us to have her narrate her own story), home footage and her remarkable writing, I hope LYRA will inspire and introduce a new generation to her work and the story of her homeland, the turbulently beautiful Northern Ireland, of which she wrote so much about.

“I’ve made many films about Northern Ireland – its people and its past – but with this film, with LYRA, it’s different – with her, this time, it’s personal.”

LYRA is a Channel 4 commission, produced by Jackie Doyle and Alison Millar for Erica Starling Productions and executively produced by Siobhan Sinnerton, Edward Watts, Greg Darby, Andrew Eaton, Louisa Compton and Hillary and Chelsea Clinton with funding from Northern Ireland Screen in association with TG4 and HiddenLight Productions. Music for the film was scored by the Ivor Novello Award-winning David Holmes, Mark McCauley was cinematographer on the project and it was edited by the British Independent Film Award-winning Chloe Lambourne.

Creative force behind East Block Bazaar to launch Slow Fashion Market on 17 November 2022

Little Fox Events has built an excellent reputation of delivering beautiful bespoke events here in Northern Ireland and are very excited to bring to East Belfast a night with a focus on slow fashion.

With a track record that includes the monthly uber cool East Block Bazaar, a buzzing new East Block Food market and the long standing eclectic Belfast Flea Market, plus bespoke markets in St Anne’s Cathedral, Hillsborough Castle, 2 Royal Avenue, The Black Box and Common Market, this special evening market will take place 7pm – 11pm on Thursday 17 November.

East Block Fashion will see Banana Block on the Newtownards Road transformed into an eclectic and colourful shopping extravaganza showcasing the best in Northern Ireland’s slow fashion designers and makers.  Featuring everything from high end, one off pieces, vintage fashion, street wear, new designers, stylish jewellery and more for both men and women.  This free event will also feature local DJs, craft beers, cocktails, cakes and hot food.

Alongside a swop shop from Another World Belfast there will be sustainable luxury handbags designed in Northern Ireland from Taylor Yates; great pieces for men from Belfast stalwart The Bureau; handpicked vintage clothing from Strawberry Fields and PastTense; preloved women’s clothing from The Wardrobe; stunning handmade jewellery by Tanya Ireland; forever pieces for children from a new range Wild Kind Ireland and health and beauty goodies from LUSH to name but a few.

Caroline Baker, founder of Little Fox Events, is no stranger to fashion having set up a clothes label FRANKIES herself. A mother of two small children and a creative career which has taken her from producing music, being a booking agent, tour manager and managing gigs to running her own varied events and designing event spaces.

The Little Fox portfolio of bespoke events has gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months and it is the level of interest in the clothing and accessories vendors across her markets that has inspired Caroline to create one specialising in slow fashion.  “It is really important to change the way the consumer shops and to provide a platform in Belfast to do so. Fast fashion is a big weight on our planet and we all need to slow it down.

We hope to provide an evening to shop in a more conscious way.  An alternative to the high street, supporting local retailers and designers, wearing second hand and swapping what you already have. These are concepts that can bring about a change but we also have fun doing it!”

This free evening event is a relaxed chance to meet up with friends, shop for clothes and accessories whilst enjoying music, bar, hot food and treats. Get those Christmas outfits bagged early!
