  1. The Epic Journey to The 153rd Open, Belfast 28 April, Portrush 2 May, Derry~Londonderry, 7 May. Tourism Northern Ireland invites you to join the Epic Journey to The 153rd Open as it extends a giant welcome to the world ahead of the Championship’s return to Royal Portrush from 13 – 20 July. The Epic Journey tees off at Belfast City Hall on April 28th, before the drive to Kerr Street Green in Portrush on May 2nd and then the short chip shot to Derry~Londonderry’s Ebrington Square on May 7th. This free public event will showcase how Northern Ireland is ‘Made for Golf’ and sports fans will have the chance to take photos with the world-famous Claret Jug.
  2. City of Derry Jazz & Big Band Festival, Derry~Londonderry, 1 – 5 May. This year’s festival will feature hundreds of performers who travel from far and wide, as well as an impressive array of homegrown talent. With global performers, fan favourites, local acts and new faces, as well as jazz workshops and dance classes, there will be plenty to keep you entertained over the course of the five-day event. And the majority of the events are free for all to enjoy, making top class live performance accessible to everyone.
  3. Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, Belfast, 1 – 11 May. One of Northern Ireland’s longest running and best-loved festivals is back for 11 days of live music, comedy, film, literature, visual art and more. This year’s Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival – now in its 25th year – will features over 100 acts – big, small and everything in-between – in dozens of venues across Belfast’s historic cultural quarter and beyond.
  4. Raghery Slemish Market Supper Club, Rathlin Island, County Antrim, 3 May. Slemish Market Supper Club & Basalt Distillery are collaborating on Rathlin Island for a Raghery Dining Experience. Visit a local orchard in a lovely rural spot in Collegeland, County Armagh to chat with the owners Des and Michelle Mackle and get the inside knowledge about the apples, the family business, the history and heritage. Then it’s over to the cookery school where you will don your aprons, get baking and learn the secrets of traditional Irish baking using the Bramley apple.
  6. Festival of Fools, Belfast, 3 – 8 May. Festival of Fools is a jam-packed weekend of circus performances, featuring breathtaking acrobatics, gut-busting comedy and jaw-dropping juggling. The festival is the largest comedy, circus and outdoor arts festival on the island of Ireland, with over 70 performances taking place on the streets of Belfast City Centre and Cathedral Quarter.
  7. Fermanagh Classic Fishing Festival 2025, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, 4 – 9 May. Calling all fishing enthusiasts. Join the Classic Fishing Festival in Fermanagh where anglers come together to celebrate the art of fishing and the beauty of Fermanagh’s lakes and rivers. Mark your calendars, gather your fishing gear, and get ready for a week filled with laughter, camaraderie, and fantastic fishing action.
  8. Magnificent May Weekend at Montalto Estate, Ballynahinch, County Down, 4 – 5 May. Bask in the spring sunshine and unwind with live music in the stunning Walled Garden. Enjoy garden games and family-friendly fun at the Woodland Play Park, with train rides available to explore the beautiful Trails and Gardens.   9. Moy Park Belfast City Marathon, Belfast, 4 May. The Moy Park Belfast City Marathon is one of the leading marathons in the UK and Ireland and is an AIMS certified race. The race will start at Stormont at 9am and finish in Ormeau Park. The Belfast event is renowned for the incredible local support and crowds to cheer you on throughout the challenging 26.2-mile course.

Ideal for riders 12 years and older, this unforgettable 2.5-hour experience will include time for some relaxation and a scenic trot along the water’s edge.

  1. Step into Spring Sunset Ramble, Bushmills, County Antrim, 18 April. Join Nature Engagement Officer from the National Trust, Dr Cliff Henry for a Step into Spring Sunset Ramble along the breath-taking Causeway cliffs. Watch the fulmars returning to their nests for the evening and keep an ear out for some skylarks performing their last melodious song of the day. On the return journey, you will pass swathes of gorse in bloom, wafting their sweet coconut scent, and then venture down the Shepherd’s Steps into Port Noffer to admire the early wildflowers on the cliff slopes.

  2. Fireside Stories, Downpatrick, Newcastle, Newry, County Down, 13,14,15 March. Fireside Stories will be hosted in three different outdoor locations across the Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion, celebrating local landscapes, places and spaces. The performers specialise in a unique blend of skills in circus and contemporary dance and the manipulation of fire to achieve strong storytelling that packs an emotional punch.
  3. Leprechaun Treasure Trail, Montalto Estate, Ballynahinch, County Down, 15 – 17 March. Enjoy a St Patrick’s Day treasure trail in search of some mischievous leprechauns. You will receive a pack from the ticket office which will include a map to help you with your search. Explore the trails and gardens and have some fun along the way.   9. St Patrick’s Day Festival Weekend, Bushmills, County Antrim, 15 – 17 March. Come and celebrate St Patrick’s Day weekend at the Giant’s Causeway, with lots of family-friendly activities. From whimsical leprechaun trails, facepainting, treasure hunts, trad bands, selfie opportunities with resident friendly giant, Finn McCool and so much more. This event promises to be a magical giant experience for all ages.
  10. Steam Whitehead St Patrick’s Weekend, Whitehead Railway Museum, County Antrim, 15 March. On the historic 1907 platform at Whitehead Excursion Station you’ll board their train for a short trip within their premises. Hauled by their 104-year-old locomotive No.3BG ‘Guinness’, you will travel in a carriage which a certain famous wizard would feel at home in as you are transported to a bygone era. Included in your ticket price is a train ride and admission to the five-gallery museum (allow at least an hour). Afterwards, you can treat yourself to tea/coffee and snacks in the café.
  11. Wild Caving – Marble Arch Caves, Florencecourt, County Fermanagh, 15 March. Delve off the beaten track with an experienced and qualified Cave Leader to explore ‘wild caving’ in the depths of the Marble Arch Caves system. Your group of ten will explore wild cave passages, negotiate boulder chambers and clamber through the well-known flyover to emerge into the public tour area of the show cave before navigating your way out through the wild chambers.
  12. Patrick’s Flotilla 2025, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, 16 March. Enjoy a spectacular St. Patrick’s Flotilla as beautifully decorated, illuminated boats take to the waters of Enniskillen. Departing from the Ardhowen Jetty, the flotilla will journey through the town in a stunning green-lit procession, creating a breathtaking sight.
  13. St Patrick’s Day at Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh, County Tyrone, 16 – 17 March. Learn about the history of the shamrock as you take in the sounds of traditional Irish music across Ulster and America. You will then move on to hands-on chocolate making, practicing tempering chocolate to create a delicious selection of flavoured chocolates using ingredients such as honeycomb and orange. You will also discover the differences in working with selected varieties of chocolate.
  15. St Patrick’s Day Beach Ride with Crindle Stables, Limavady, County Londonderry, 15 March. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a scenic horseback ride along the stunning Northern Ireland coastline. This event is aimed particularly at people with visual impairments.
  4. Grace’s Transport Timeline, Ulster Transport Museum, County Down, 22 & 23 February. CBeebies star, Grace Webb, will be joining the Ulster Transport Museum’s Rail Gallery this February! You might recognise Grace Webb from her CBeebies show ‘Grace’s Amazing Machines’ where she explores some of the biggest, fastest and most amazing machines in the world! As part of NI Science Festival, Grace will delve into some of the incredible machines on display.   5. Hive Choir Presents: The Bog! Bellaghy, County Londonderry, 22 February. The HIVE Choir will kick off their special weekend of events with their annual ‘HIVEsplaining’ concert at the Seamus Heaney HomePlace, where they explain a scientific topic through song. The concert will premiere a slew of new original songs about Irish boglands. Together, navigate the morass of historical and mythological interpretations of bogs and peatlands, as well as the latest scientific findings that reveal the ecological importance of bogs.
  6. Music In Fermanagh presents The Fidelio Trio at St Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, 18th The virtuosic Fidelio Trio return for an evening of exceptional chamber music. Renowned for their dynamic performances and international acclaim, The Fidelio Trio offers a rich exploration of the string trio repertoire. Shortlisted for the 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards, The Fidelio Trio broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3, RTÉ Lyric FM, and have been featured on Sky Arts.
  7. Gospel Fest Goes West, Omagh, County Tyrone, 22 February. Omagh & Fintona Methodist Circuit are delighted to present Gospel Fest Goes West at the Strule Arts Centre. This year is the 10th Anniversary of GFGW and will be another great night of Gospel music featuring Jenn Bostic, International Christian Music Artist from Nashville, the singer/songwriter of the award-winning ballad “Jealous of the Angels”.
  8. Foraging Afloat, Strangford Lough Activity Centre, County Down, 22 & 23 February. Spring is arriving on Strangford Lough and with it the arrival of an array of seasonal wild food emerges from the land and water. Join Rory Martin, David Thompson & Celia Spouncer from Wild About Tours for a unique guide to the sights and flavour of the area. Rory will guide a kayaking tour with some facts and folklore of the islands, castles rocks and wrecks. Learn some local history, spot the wildlife and improve your paddling skills. You will stop off at an island where David & Celia will share the salty delights and unique taste of Strangford Lough.

For each session they will have a team of experts to help you navigate the night sky using telescopes (weather depending) along with a dome show in our digital theatre and an astronomer talk.

  9. Paddle Back in Time – The Monks, the Vikings and the Smugglers of Strangford Lough, Killinchy, County Down, 15 and 16 February. Let us take you on a kayak tour to Mahee Island following a traditional smuggling route undertaken by Daft Eddie and the Merry Hearts. In Whiterock, you will be kitted out with wetsuit and buoyancy aid and briefed by local guides and kayak instructors. Rory grew up on Strangford Lough and has a real affinity and knowledge of the area, its waterways and heritage. At Mahee Island, Dr. Sarah Baccianti – researcher in literature and history of medieval Scandinavia. – will guide you through the ruins of the monastic site of Nendrum, life in the monastery in the Middle Ages, and the role played by the Vikings in the Strangford Lough area between the 9th and 11th centuries.

  1. Amanda Croft Lecture Series: The Face, Ulster Museum, Belfast, 28 January – 8 April. In this series of illustrated talks, explore questions that examine portraits from the collections of the Ulster Museum, Queen’s University, and other national and international galleries. From self-portraits and selfies to the dynamics of double and group portraits, ‘The Face: Catching a Likeness’ lecture series will delve into the diverse approaches to portraiture and its evolving role in art and society. There are 10 lectures in the series, taking place on a Tuesday, over 10 separate dates.

 

  1. Belfast Punk Music Walking Tour, Belfast, 8 February (more dates available). Come explore the story of punk music in Belfast on this walking tour, with a specialist music guide who has loved punk music since the 1970s. Since bands like The Outcasts, Rudi, Stiff Little Fingers, Ruefrex and Victim erupted onto the scene in Belfast back in the late 1970s, Belfast punk has held a special place in music history, near and far.

 

  1. Steinbeck Festival, Limavady, County Londonderry, 7 – 28 February.
