Here are ten exciting things to do 21 – 27 August

1. Paws for Nature at Castle Ward, Strangford, County Down, 26-27 August. Get ready to unleash a weekend of tail-wagging fun celebrating all things canine. 2. Ould Lammas Fair, Ballycastle, County Antrim, 26-27 August. The country’s oldest fair returns to the beautiful seaside resort of Ballycastle with another fabulous programme full of events. The Naturally North Coast and Glen’s Artisan Market features local fresh produce, quirky handmade crafts, and fine art. Sample the iconic classics of Yellow Man and Dulce while savouring the atmosphere of this horse-trading village which will be transformed with stalls and visitors as far as the eye can see.
3. Clearer Water Antrim Coast Half Marathon, Larne, County Antrim, 27 August. The Clearer Water Antrim Coast Half Marathon is a 13.1-mile road race, held on the last Bank holiday in August. Starting at the beginning of the iconic Antrim Coast Road, the course sweeps into Larne Harbour offering not just one of the most beautiful but one of the fastest half marathons in the world. In addition to the main event there’s a one-mile street race for adults and children.
4. Hilden Beer & Music Festival, Lambeg, County Antrim, 25-27 August. Set in the picturesque Georgian setting of Hilden House and its surrounding grounds, festival goers can choose for over 40 beers and ciders while enjoying a brilliant line-up of musicians offering rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and traditional Irish talent. Explore the local artisan food stalls and sample the very best from Northern Ireland’s craft breweries whilst talking to the brewers who make them.
5. The Stand-Up Session, Armagh, County Armagh, 26 August. The Market Place Theatre Stand-Up Sessions continue to have audiences rolling in the aisles with another evening of side-splitting comedy genius. Enjoy sets from hilarious local stand-up comedians Ian Thomson, Andrew Ryan, Luke McGibbon, and Bronagh Diamond for everything from politics to parenthood. This is one lineup not to miss!
6. Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh, County Tyrone,12 August. Journey back in time at the Ulster American Folk Park, from Ulster to America. Enjoy a fun family day out set amid 90 acres, with over forty buildings of exhibits dedicated to the story of Irish emigration. It details rural life here and in frontier America in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Costumed guides help bring history to life with demonstrations like spinning, open fire cooking and candle dipping.
7. Belfast Mela, Belfast, County Antrim, 21-27 August. This multi-cultural festival kicks off with a spectacular Carnival Parade through the streets of Belfast. Watch the city’s Botanic Gardens become a wonderland of colour, culture, and creativity. Embrace this lively festival of music, dance theatre, wellbeing, and food. There’s everything from tea walking tours to yoga.
8. The 10th Anniversary of the death of Seamus Heaney, Bellaghy, County Londonderry, 25-27 August. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Seamus Heaney, a special weekend of events will take place at the Seamus Heaney HomePlace, Bellaghy, to celebrate his legacy. Whilst poetry aptly provides the focal point for the weekend, a wonderful blend of music and film will also be on offer, in what promises to be a reflective celebration of Seamus Heaney’s life and work. Paul Muldoon, Ireland Chair of Poetry, will open proceedings with a reading.
9. Twilight Tour at Castle Coole, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, 25 August. Step back in time at Castle Coole, one of Ireland’s finest Neo-classic houses, for an exclusive evening exploring the Mansion where the 2nd Earl and his family lived there. Experience the stately grandeur of this stunning 18th-century mansion set in a beautiful, wooded landscape park during twilight. The tour will kick off with a drink’s reception on arrival, finishing with wine and cheese in the historic kitchen.
10. Emerge, Belfast, County Antrim,26-27 August. EMERGE Musical Festival is back this bank holiday weekend bringing some of the world’s biggest dance acts to Belfast. Following a sell-out inaugural year, it promises to be bigger, better, and bolder. Homegrown talent will be at the core of a line-up across 4 stages encompassing more than 50 acts, as they appear alongside the best breaking acts from the burgeoning international electronic music scene. This year’s headliners include Bicep and Charlotte De Whitte along with local acts like Rebuke.

Here are ten exciting things to do 14 – 20 August

1. ISPS HANDA World Invitational, Ballymena, County Antrim, 17-20 August. Northern Ireland’s biggest annual golf tournament gets underway at the Galgorm where men and women will compete will go head-to-head for the same prize money at the same event. Take the train to see the professionals train at the new co-host course of Castlerock.
2. Wake The Giant, Warrenpoint, County Down, 19-20 August. The return of the Wake the Giant Festival is the perfect reason to visit the charming town of Warrenpoint. This vibrant festival celebrates the town’s unique heritage and legends, offering visitors a weekend full of exciting events and activities. From live music and performances to Giants food feast and children’s activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
3. The Lake Kilrea, Kilrea, County Londonderry, throughout August. Make a giant splash in this fresh water aqua park a few minutes’ walk from the historic town of Kilrea and the mighty river Bann. There’s a great range of family friendly activities from canoeing and kayaking to paddleboards, not to mention the “Beast Slide”. There are more thrills on dry land with high ropes, a zip line and a 24 ft climbing wall.
4. CHSq 2023, Belfast, County Antrim, 14-20 August. Custom House Square has another tremendous line-up of international acts in this year’s music festival including Kodaline, the Proclaimers and homegrown punk talent, Stiff Little Fingers. All set against the historic backdrop of Charles Lanyon’s designed Custom House.
5. Finnebrogue Feasts, Downpatrick, County Down, 19 August. Celebrate this summer’s bounty with a five-course feast crafted by wild chef Rory Gorman. With a focus on local and seasonal produce, this bespoke culinary experience is created using ingredients foraged from the surrounding woodland. Enjoy the cosy ambience of the Scandinavian Tipi whilst observing the chefs at work over the fire, before tucking into the resulting deliciousness. This is truly a unique woodland dining experience!
6. Exploris Aquarium & Seal Sanctuary, Portaferry, County Down, 15 August. Explore the story of Strangford Lough with the unveiling of a new tank, double the size of the old one, complete with an underground tunnel. You can now watch magnificent marine life float overhead. Whilst at Exploris don’t forget to explore the kid’s playroom, a two tier aquatic themed indoor soft play area with distinct zones for babies, toddlers and juniors up to eight years old.
7. Family Fun at Armagh Observatory and Planetarium, Armagh, County Armagh, 15-17 August. Join Scientific Sue on this historical and creative journey of discovery at the Armagh Observatory and Planetarium. Experience the new live science show, based on the book written by Cressida Cowell: How to Train Your Dragon. Find out if Cressida is a scientific genius or just a fantastic storyteller. Scientific Sue will need lots of brave volunteers to help her investigate and explore the science of how dragons fly.
8. Open Park Days, Ballygawley, County Tyrone, 16 August. Open Park Days return at Todds Leap with over 15 amazing activities to choose from. Explore the sites archery, zip lines, climbing walls and drop zone, all set in the beautiful Clogher Valley. You can also explore the Granda Bens Ethical Zoo Trail with life sized zoo models, outdoor play trails and a rope bridge.
9. Creels In The Cave, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh 18 August. Learn more about the ancient art of how Irish fish baskets, creels, were made. Dessie, owner of the Linnet Inn, will share stories and explain the extensive man-made cave network that lies beneath the pub. You will get the chance to try your hand at weaving with soft instruction from master weaver Tommy O’Brien. Enjoy a locally made bowl of broth and locally made fadge, all as you are regaled by the stories and history of this magical landscape.
10. Lumarina, Ballyronan, County Londonderry ,19 August. Lumarina, the fun filled, free event held at Ballyronan Marina makes a welcome return on Saturday. Enjoy a unique firework display with the picturesque backdrop of the Lough reflecting the onshore illuminations. Don’t miss the evenings firework display, with a finale to amaze. There is something for everyone from fire performers, a fun fair, magic shows and illuminations on the riverside trail behind the play park that will catch the eye of the little ones.

1. Feile 35, Belfast, County Antrim, 7-13 August. Visit Ireland’s biggest community arts festival, Féile an Phobail, for its 35th anniversary and celebrate Irish culture. 2. Open House festival, Bangor, County Down, 12 August. Bangor seafront will go back in time for this Seaside Revival festival celebrating all things vintage. The festival’s eclectic programme includes music, comedy, film, theatre, boat trips, food and drink, talks and tours, and crafting events. 3. Famous Maize Maze, Limavady, County Londonderry, 7-13 August. Explore the trails throughout a 13-acre cornfield with plenty of twists, turns and dead ends to challenge the whole family. If you can find your way out there are lots of other adrenaline pumping activities in the main activity centre from high ropes, a zip line, canoeing, archery and abseiling. All located in the beautiful setting of the Roe Valley.
4. W5 Summer Camps, Belfast, County Antrim, 7-13 August. This summer at W5, explore the world of science and technology at the Bright Sparks and Techno Sparks summer camps. This unique and exciting week-long summer camp is perfect for inquisitive young minds ranging from 8-14 years old. Techno Sparks invites those 11-14 years old to get stuck in with coding, film production, robotic programming, engineering, virtual reality and much more. Bright Sparks is calling all young budding scientists ages 8-11 to try out science-based activities such as crime labs, rocket races, animation and building challenges. 8. Lough Neagh Discovery and Conference Centre, Craigavon, County Armagh, 7-13 August. Get close up with nature and the biodiversity of Oxford Island while exploring the nature reserves’ many beguiling trails. This free nature centre consists of four miles of footpaths, five birdwatching hides, ponds, wildflower meadows and much more. With two playparks and a summer scavenger hunt why not pack a picnic and make a family day of it on the superb shores of Lough Neagh.
9. Wellbrook Beetling Mill, Cookstown, County Tyrone, 12-13 August. Situated in a peaceful, wooded glen along the Ballinderry River, Wellbrook Beetling Mill stands as a reminder of Ulster’s once-flourishing linen industry that dates back to the late seventeenth century. Explore the last working linen mill of its kind here and watch costumed guides demonstrate the “beetles” at work, the wooden tools used to tighten the fabric and give it its sheen. This location is a fabulous insight into the past and a lovely place to wander on the banks of the Ballinderry river whose waters helped power the mill.
10. Hill of The O’Neill and Ranfurly House, Dungannon, County Tyrone, 7-13 August. This fine listed building is the gateway to one of the most ancient sites in Ulster- Hill of the O’Neill. Experience history and learn about the dynasty that ruled over Ulster for over 400 years. Enjoy 360 panoramic views from the glass tower and learn about the Flight of the Earls. Finish your trip by exploring the beautiful heritage park with a cup of coffee from the coffee shop located in the building.

Here are ten exciting things to do 31 July – 6 August

1. EastSide Arts Festival, Belfast, County Antrim, 31-6 August. More than 60 events will be held to showcase this part of the city’s vibrant cultural and creative arts scene. It’s the birthplace of cultural giants like Van Morrison, Gary Moore of Thin Lizzy fame and George Best. There’s theatre, literature, music, and cabaret staged in great venues like the refurbished Templemore Baths and the Harland and Wolff Staff Club. Among the experiences on offer will be comedy at Banana Block, a walking tour for foodies and a free family fun day at CS Lewis Square to celebrate the event’s 10th birthday.
2. Classic Bike Festival Ireland, Downpatrick, County Down, 4-6 August. For a celebration of motorcycling Bishopscourt Racing Circuit is the venue. There’ll be track racing for Classic Superbikes 250GP as well as Classic GP 250/350 machines and sidecars. As well as the action on the track fans can see 100’s of rare motorcycles in the display marquee.
3. Games of the Past, Armagh, County Armagh, 5 August. Discover how a Celtic clan would have used games as a fun way to train their young warriors in the art of battle! It’s all part of Lughnasa celebrations, the ancient festival celebrating the beginning of harvest time. There’ll be an assault course and target practice with the chance use a spear and javelin! You can also meet some of nature’s most skilled hunters: eagles, falcons, and hawks.
4. Honey Fair, Hillsborough, County Down 5-6 August. ‘Bee’ Inspired and learn more about the vital role honeybees play in our environment set against this beautiful backdrop. Savour the sweetness and sample mouth-watering local food and drink from more than 50 artisan producers. Discover how to make your garden bee-friendly, speak to beekeepers and experience food demonstrations with the likes of local chef and food writer Paula McIntyre.
5. Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark, County Fermanagh. Straddling Fermanagh in Northern Ireland and County Cavan in the Republic of Ireland, this global geopark is simply breath-taking. Take in the views of stunning waterfalls, lakes and gently rolling drumlin as well as spectacular cliffs and hidden caves. Explore prehistoric tombs, Iron Age forts and early Christian monasteries. This is an ideal destination for anyone with a love of the great outdoors.
6. Strangford Lough Adventure Centre: Full Moon Paddle, Strangford Lough, County Down, 1 August. A unique way to experience the water and the beauty of the full moon. Departing at twilight on a kayak, SUP or canoe be guided by an instructor around the islands of the Lough. Take in the mystical atmosphere and weather permitting great view of the stars before returning to dry land for hot chocolate and treats. Weather dependent.
7. Island Town Dinner & Cruise, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, 1-6 August. Enjoy a two-hour cruise onboard the MV Kestrel around Lough Erne before stopping off in one of four of the town’s finest eateries to have dinner. 8. Bad Bridget Banner Making, Omagh, County Tyrone, 5 August. Join Fiona McDonnell, the illustrator behind the Bad Bridget exhibition artwork, for a banner making workshop based on her work as part of the exhibition. Throughout history, political and social movements such as these have always utilised the power of banners for group solidarity and to communicate their message of change. Taking the Bad Bridget exhibition as a starting point, this workshop will be a creative exploration in banner making for a cause you care about, or just a relaxing way to spend your afternoon!
9. Benone Artisan Market, Limavady, County Londonderry, 5 August. Benone artisan market by Naturally North Coast and Glens is an excellent showcase of local food, culture, heritage, and traditions, and it is an ideal destination for anyone looking for an authentic experience. The stallholders are themselves producers – people who grow, make, create, style, rear, craft, design or bake the products that they sell. It’s a place to explore, to ask questions, to discover new flavours, stumble upon raw talent, unearth entrepreneurship, nurture bygone mastery, and to savour a unique, buzzing atmosphere.
10. August Craft Month 2023, across Northern Ireland ,1-6 August. This is a must for all makers and lovers of things handmade and artisan. Here are ten exciting things to do 24 – 30 July

1. The Super Cup, County Antrim & County Londonderry, 24-30 July. Grab some football boots and help celebrate the 40th anniversary of the youth tournament which was the launchpad for footballing greats like Marcus Rashford and David Beckham. Formerly The Milk Cup, the event will see 64 teams from across the world compete at 19 venues in Coleraine, Ballymena, and Newtownabbey. There’ll be three age groups for boys: U13, 14 and 16 and for girls there two groups U14 and 16. The Elite Challenge will host four Premier League teams, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Valencia, and Hertha Berlin.
2. Family Ceili, Belfast, County Antrim 30 July. A free ceili on the Titanic Slipway with performances by The Blackwater Ceili Band, and Niall Hanna and a five-hour music session on the deck of The SS Nomadic.
3. Paddle and Pizza, Strangford Lough, County Down, 30 July. Visit To celebrate “National Friendship Day” when you book two places on this experience the third is free! After learning the basics of staying afloat on a Stand-Up Paddleboard, Joe your instructor will guide you around Ballymorran Bay and the little Islands of this enchanting lough. Then it’s back to Tracy’s kitchen for homemade pizza.
4. Whiskey Week, Belfast, County Antrim, 24-30 In its 5th year enjoy exclusive dining and drink collaborations with well-known bars and restaurants. As well as whiskey tastings and cocktails enjoy an eclectic mix of live music, comedy, food collaborations, heritage walking tours, theatrical experiences, Irish dancing, distillery days and much more. Starting out in the 1980’s the festival is now engrained in the fabric of this beautiful spot, attracting talented musicians from across the globe as well as showcasing local talent. 6. FRS GAA World Games 2023, Dungiven, County Londonderry, 24-27 July. The free event celebrates Gaelic games across the world. 97 teams from countries as far flung as South Africa and the Middle East will descend on the northwest to play football, hurling and camogie. As well as all the sporting action there’ll be live music, a family fun zone packed with activities, guest speakers, delicious food experiences, and of course the chance to enjoy Derry’s world-famous hospitality during your visit. Don’t miss the thrilling final which takes place in the city’s Celtic Park on July 28th.
7. Beaghmore Stones, Cookstown, County Tyrone, see website for availability. Explore this atmospheric early bronze age site which translates as “big place of birch trees” reflecting the woods that would have been cleared by neolithic farmers. Stoll among its seven stones circles and mystical cairns which were uncovered accidently by a peat cutter eighty years ago. Immerse yourself in history in the shadow of the majestic Sperrin mountains.
8. Gosford Go Karting, Markethill, County Armagh, see website for availability. Family Fun for those who feel a need for speed this summer! Experience the powerful thrill of racing on an outdoor tarmac track near Gosford Forest Park. There are practice sessions for children aged eight years upwards on junior karts and intermediate and Grand Prix karts geared for the more competitive adults out there.
9. Clogher Valley Show, Augher, County Tyrone, 26 July. Whether it’s the farm animals, the food, or the funfair, there’s plenty to entertain the whole family. 1. Moves and Melodies, Derry~Londonderry, County Londonderry, 20 July. Taking place at the Millennium Forum Theatre and Conference Centre, Moves and Melodies is an age-friendly project full of song and dance workshops. 2. Highlights Tours at the Ulster Folk Museum, Holywood, County Down, 22-23 July. Get to know more about your past with a costumed guided tour of some of the site’s key attractions like the Picture House and the Corner Shop. You will also get the chance to see makers demonstrate traditional heritage skills like basketmaking and printmaking.
3. Rathlin Forage, Rathlin Island, County Antrim, 17 & 22 July. This is the ultimate event for a young explorer. Learn to identify the different types of edible seaweed along the rocky shores and learn all about the nutritional value of cooking with seaweed. Meet the rockpool creatures and learn all about the conservation of these species on this wondrous foraging experience led by expert Ksenia.
4. Wild Atlantic Distillery Gin School & Distillery Tour, Castlederg, County Tyrone, 21-22 July. 5. Drawn to Water: Quentin Blake at WWT, Castle Espie Wetland Trust, County Down, throughout July. See the wonders of Northern Ireland’s wetlands using a new guide by illustrator, Quentin Blake. As well as the birdlife there’s fun to be had in the wildwood and the secret swamp, as well as story time and crafts for the little ones.
6. Summer City Walking Tours, Armagh, County Armagh, throughout July. Grab your trainers and prepare to take in this ancient city soaked in myths, history, and legends. On this tour you will be guided by the experts from Armagh Guided Walking tours as you unearth hidden gems through the city centre and a conservation area, stopping off at various locations on a route of approx 1 km.
7. OM Dark Sky Park and Observatory, Davagh Forest, County Tyrone , see website for opening times. Take a journey through time and space with a visitor experience that’s out of this world. Book your visit to Northern Ireland’s only International Dark Sky Park. Fully guided by an experienced tour guide, the centre will give visitors a unique opportunity to experience the night sky as it is rarely viewed.
8. Life Through a Royal Lens, Hillsborough Castle, County Down, throughout July (in line with castle opening hours). Enjoy this unique collection which brings together over 60 of the most iconic images ever taken of the Royal Family, dating back to the reign of Queen Victoria. It includes work by Cecil Beaton and Annie Leibovitz. You can then stroll around the castle’s ornamental grounds, peaceful woodland, and meandering waterways.
9. Florence Court, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, throughout July. One of the most beautiful Georgian houses in Ulster, nestled against the backdrop of the Benaughlin and Cuilagh Mountains, the former home of the Cole Family holds a fascinating collection of historic furniture and has some of the best Rococo plasterwork. In the grounds you will find the “parent” tree of all Irish Yews, there’s also a children’s playground and picnic areas to enjoy.
10. Belfast TradFest, Belfast, County Antrim (various locations), 23-20 July. Belfast TradFest, the pinnacle of world-class traditional music concerts, fiery pub sessions and Northern Ireland’s fastest growing summer school of traditional music, is set to celebrate its 5th edition this July across Belfast UNESCO City of Music. With events taking place across the city, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.

1. Belfast Summer Cinema, Belfast, County Antrim, 15-16 July. Belfast One has partnered with Belfast Film Festival to organise this free, fun weekend, taking place on the grounds of City Hall. Cool FM presenters will be on hand to entertain audiences throughout the 2 days. In between movies look out for lots of animated family fun from live entertainment and face painters! Belfast Summer Cinema-goers will be given a special wrist band to avail of special offers around the City Centre.
2. Ulster Fleadh, Dromore, County Tyrone, 16 July. Visit The Fleadh, a provincial festival full of traditional music, song, dance and the language for Ulster. Fleadh Cheoil, which literally means “feast of music”, is a magnificent mix of competitions and cultural events which showcase each element of Irish traditional culture and more recently, incorporating a range of other cultures also.
3. Family Fun at Armagh Observatory and Planetarium, Armagh, County Armagh, 11-16 July. Visit the Armagh Planetarium for some family fun with science and nature. The Bricks 4 Kidz Workshop is a fun space-themed brick-building workshops, where kids can make their very own cosmic creations out of colourful LEGO® bricks. Let your imagination run wild and be inspired by everything from the planets and stars to astronomers, rockets and everything in between.
4. Lady of The Lake Festival, Irvinestown, County Fermanagh, 10-16 July. The Transformers have crash landed to Earth and now they are taking over Irvinestown. This year’s Lady of the Lake Festival theme is ‘TRANSFORMERS TAKE IRVINESTOWN’. This summer’s Lady of the Lake Festival will provide fun for all, with the return of popular events including the Donkey Derby, Traditional Fair Day and Cross-Community and Inter-Denomination Service on White Island, to name a few, along with some new events.
5. Wildflower Crown Making Workshop, Bushmills, County Antrim, 11 July. Let your creativity run wild and join the Nature Engagement Officer, Dr Cliff Henry, for a Wildflower Crown Making Workshop! This is a fantastic opportunity to get creative and learn a fun, new skill, whilst connecting with nature. This workshop provides an opportunity to learn about the vital conservational work that goes into maintaining the wildflower meadows at the World Heritage Site. The group will be led by Dr Cliff to a nearby wildflower meadow approximately 300 metres from the Visitor Centre.
6. Summer Family Fun at Mount Stewart, Newtownards, County Down, 10-16 July. Create, explore, move, wonder, and make-believe at the Summer of Family Fun at Mount Stewart. This is the perfect chance to try it all, find your favourite, come back again and again. Brush up on your football skills with Galactico Soccer, spark your imagination with Up To High Doh Theatre Company, go wild in the woods, head to the Nursery in the House for traditional games, try some traditional lawn games and have a go at orienteering with the summer lake trail and much more. There is something for everyone.
7. Beer Masterclass, Derry~Londonderry, County Londonderry, 14 July. The Beer Masterclass at the Walled City Brewery is perfect for craft beer aficionados, or anyone with a thirst for a fun experience and really good beer. This experience will start with a quick tour of this famous liquid’s history, all the way from 9000 BC to the present day, via Ancient Rome and 1920s Prohibition. And then the fun starts, when it’s your chance to get hands-on with the ingredients and make your own micro-beer. You’ll also get the chance to sample 10 different beers at the beer tasting.
8. Orchard/Cider Experience and Cooking Demo with Granny’s Traditional Griddle Bread, Portadown, County Armagh, 15 July. Enjoy a fully immersive orchard/cider experience in the company of the McKeever Family.  Walk through their various orchard plantations and witness first-hand the beautiful apple blossom in May or the laden apple trees at harvest. Learn about the whole craft cider/apple juice production from start to finish, enjoy tastings of their award-winning products. Take time to sit back and relax in their new glass fronted Bramley Barn with a cuppa along with granny’s traditional griddle breads, cheese and chutneys.
9. Kids Choccy Rocky Experience, Castlerock, County Londonderry, 14 July. Join The Chocolate Manor team in Castlerock for the tastiest kids experience on the Causeway Coast! In this one-hour kids only experience, participants will make three fabulous chocolate creations using the finest Belgian chocolate. They will be offered a hot chocolate while their creations set and then package them up to take home and enjoy.
10. Botanical Art Taster Session with Ali Walker, Newtownards, County Down, 12 July. Join local Botanical Artist Ali Walker as she gives a taster session in the art of drawing plants from life in Mount Stewart’s beautiful gardens. The event will begin with a short garden tour led by Rob Wilson, Assistant Head Gardener, during which you can watch out for a potential botanical subject. Ali will then demonstrate basic botanical drawing techniques that you can use to illustrate your chosen flower or plant.

1. Stendhal Festival, Limavady, County Londonderry, 6-8 July. Roll up to the amazing Stendhal Festival, Northern Ireland’s biggest independent music and arts festival since 2011. 2. The Derry Girls Experience, Derry~Londonderry, County Londonderry, 4 July. Visit the home of Derry Girls and discover where it all began. The Tower Museum is showcasing original memorabilia from the hit show, like Erin’s diary, Aunt Sarah’s famous pyjamas and Ma Mary’s Woolworths sweater, not to mention the infamous Spice Girls costumes. Step into the set of the Quinn’s household and feel like one of the family. Sister Michael fan? Don’t miss your chance to sit on her chair and roll your eyes at anyone who crosses your path.
3. Open-Air Theatre: The Secret Garden, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, 4 July. Chapterhouse Theatre Company is proud to present The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Picnic with friends and family and enjoy this enchanting story, loved by children and adults alike. Relive this tale of secrecy and curiosity in what will be one of the highlights of the summer. The Secret Garden will be performed in the grounds of Enniskillen Castle, a stunning open-air venue for a wonderful evening of theatre under the stars.
4. Benone Artisan Market, Limavady, County Londonderry, 9 July. This free artisan market by Naturally North Coast and Glens is an excellent showcase of local food, culture, heritage, and traditions, and it is an ideal destination for anyone looking for an authentic experience. Benone offers visitors an enticing mix of a coastal location with the beautiful backdrop of Binevenagh Mountain. This market aims to keep things authentic, providing an opportunity to meet some of Northern Ireland’s excellent producers and creative small businesses.
5. Family Fun at Armagh Observatory and Planetarium, Armagh, County Armagh, 4-9 July. Visit the Armagh Planetarium this summer and have fun with science and nature. Jurassic Ark Encounters will be bringing their reptile friends to meet you. Get up close and personal with some of nature’s most fascinating and amazing animals, like snakes, lizards, tortoises and many more. This is an educational learning session about nature’s most fascinating family, the reptiles.
6. Comber Farmers’ Market, Comber, Down, 6 July. Come on down to the award-winning Comber Farmers’ Market. There are over 24 regular traders selling artisan food and plants. This market provides a wide range of local produce including breads, cheeses, vegetables, fruit, cakes, traybakes, jams, flowers, chocolates and many more. In addition, the ladies of the church catering committee will be providing morning tea, coffee and homemade scones, buns and biscuits in the church hall.
7. Secret Garden, Belfast, County Antrim, 7 July. Enjoy an evening stroll through Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park, famous for the International Rose Garden. This walk will focus on some of the less well-known aspects of the grounds and the local history of the park. The beautiful Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park is comprised of rolling meadows, woodland, riverside fields and formal gardens. The City of Belfast International Rose Garden has made the park world famous, containing over 20,000 blooms in the summer. Don’t miss out on seeing the wonderful blooms!
8. Hannah Starkey, Principled & Revolutionary: Northern Ireland’s Peace Women, Belfast, County Antrim, 3-9 July. The National Museums NI has partnered with Belfast Photo Festival to present their newly commissioned body of work by renowned photographer, Hannah Starkey at the Ulster Museum. This co-curated exhibition celebrates and honours the women who helped bring peace to Northern Ireland and pays tribute to their efforts in social and political work. The 21 portraits in this exhibition highlight some of the many women who have been pivotal to peace building and community activism in this country through their work in the political, cultural and social sphere.
9. Conleth McGeary The Homecoming Tour, Dungannon, County Tyrone, 7 July. Conleth McGeary will be performing at Ranfurly House Arts & Visitor Centre to share some original music. The ‘Liverpool Irish phenomenon’ (Liverpool Echo) has been quietly penning new music and crafting his new sound in the UAE away from everybody. The Tyrone born singer has taken himself out of the local scene in Liverpool where he resides, to work on his original music which he holds close to his heart and is planning his return with a bang. His Irish ‘Homecoming Tour’ will give you a glimpse as to why he has been reluctant to share his new songs until now.
10. DRAGONS at W5, Belfast, County Antrim. Are you ready to come face-to-face with DRAGONS at W5? For centuries one mythical creature has fascinated and enthralled young and old more than any other. This summer, an epic adventure awaits at W5 as you enter a world of Dragons. The seated event at Hill of The O’Neill marquee space will include the cream of Northern Ireland’s burgeoning comedy circuit headlined by Paddy McDonnell and Micky Bartlett alongside other up-and-coming stand-ups. The revered Sean Hegarty will be on MC duties on the night.
